I personally think Cotto's success was incredibly downplayed and continues to get downplayed with each passing day.

A large part of Cotto's bodywork went ignored.

Cotto's control of the fight gets ignored simply because Floyd decided to spread the idea around that he decided to "make it exciting"...well who's idea was that? Not Cotto's, it was Floyd's...he willingly gave up ring generalship to make it exciting and as such should lose that aspect when scoring the right.

Floyd's counter shots were being blocked about as much as Cotto's, but it was Floyd who landed the cleaner blows when they landed. One or two shots of that magnitude shouldn't erase the amount of work and activity that Cotto put in either. Those weren't shoe shining punches.

Truth of the matter is, if Cotto had enough gas in the tank for the last quarter of the fight, he might've edged it out.

Thank you. A rare example of a person who SEES with his OWN eyes and sees through Floyd's bull**** "I wanted it to be a hard fight... I wanted to be punched in the nose and get caught like a fool with that Cotto jab 3x in a row"

Floyd was EMBARRASSED more than he would have liked and some of you are so damn naive that you actually BELIEVE Floyd wanted to be EMBARRASSED.

Tells you a lot about the overall collective IQ...

All 12 rounds were hard and I had it 8 - 4 Floyd.

    Cotto fought well.

I didn't see said interview, but Floyd didn't resort to using the left uppercut as his "go to" punch until the 11th. Floyd always has a signature shot in EVERY fight.

    Hatton - check hook.
    Shane - straight right hand.
Vic Ortiz - straight right hand.
Marquez - left hook, right hand.
DLH - jab to the body, right hand.

all these punches or series of combinations, came early and prominent from the get go. Floyd had difficulty finding his punch all night. Which was a testament to Cotto's underrated defense (which is crazy to say because Cotto isn't exactly a defensive wizard and Floyd being Mr.Accuracy...certainly didnt have it that night)

Is Mayorga gonna go around saying he was KO'd by Tito because "I wanted to make the fight exciting so I let him hit me with 3 left hooks from hell"...clearly not.

Floyd has just become more flat footed as he got older. He just doesn't want people to know that.

first two times I saw it thought Floyd won a close fight 8-4, saw it again recently and well I just cant believe how much HBO plays a role in creating some sort of theme.

What I mean is simple alot of Floyds shots where blocked, and you hear lampley saying Flush right hand from Mayweatherm Right hand again and again problem is u cant credit a fighter for shots that are blocked.

I honestly do not know how to view this fight, Floyd won in my eyes twice 8-4 but the last time I saw it I can see where Cottos supporters believe he won there were a lot of close rounds in there, and if you score those for Miguel well they have a case

I think Floyds success was over exaggerated against Cotto

It was the first time in a long time any fighter had been competitive against Floyd consistently for several rounds. Of course people are going to exaggerate it for awhile.

Floyd fought the type of fight many thought would give Cotto his best chance at victory and Mayweather still won clearly. It was exaggerated a bit. Cotto had some success. He was able to make Floyd miss more than usual and Miguel landed on Floyd more than most opponents do, but Floyd was never in any real danger of losing this fight.

The bloody nose gave a lot of fans/haters false hope. Floyd's defense was still top notch in the fight.

I was surprised that Floyd started off fast when he usually take the first four rounds as feel out rounds. This one he faded in mid rounds but came back at the end. Cotto came with the best condition that i have seen from him in a while. He didn't gas tilled round 11. Before this fight he didn't gas against Margo till 10th. HIs trainer is a keeper.

No. It was not a whitewash with Cotto having a couple good moments during the entire fight. So many of those rounds were nip-and-tuck. Competitive fight throughout where both fighters did good work with a variety of punches, body and head. One of the best technical fights I've seen in the last half decade or so.
