    Shane is old and isn't a top fighter anymore. Dont try to spin it. Cotto could barely handle an old Shane.

    Shane is definitely a top fighter. His performance against Collazo indicates that. He still has excellent speed, good power, and technical skills. He's not the fighter he once was, but he is an elite welterweight.

    Floyds win was better. cotto got a very close decision over the aging well out his prime but still tough as nails to beat mosley. floyd fought a fighter in his prime and got the ko on the record while he was cruising to a ud.

    mosley is a shell of his former self. i'm impressed by the win cotto pulled off but it wasnt as good as beating a p4p champ in ricky who is only a few spots from the top.

    Cotto over Shane = Floyd over DLH

    Hatton = Zab

    No because everyone knows a peak SSM would have beat his ass.

    So let me see if i've got it...

    Cotto barely beating a past-prime #1 ranked welterweight is better than PBF beating a prime #1 j. lightweight, a prime #1 lightweight, a prime #1 j. welterweight, and a #1 j. middleweight?

    And even if Mosely was the #1 ranked welterweight, that wasn't the same Mosely who fought DLH 1 or DLH 2. It's not like Cotto beat a prime Mosely.

    nope..shane is good..but the level of competition is different now, since ricky is at his prime while shane is not... if cotto was able to do that at shanes prime then you have a case..but cotto would've have lost .

    It was more surprising as everyone thought Mosley would outpoint and even ko Cotto. Cotto came in as a boxer which no one expected. Cotto's rep went way up. Floyd did what he was expected to do. No one expected Floyd to ko Hatton and I give him all respect for it. I was rooting for Hatton only because he was the underdog and everyone was dissing him. But Cotto was more surprising.

    Cotto's win over former Mayweather's mandatory challenger Shane Mosley cannot be disregarded. That win along with the June 9 fight with Judah fairly make him a prime candidate for Fighter of the Year along with Kelly Pavlik. Floyd had a great year by bravely stepping up against Hoya and standing all the pressure that fighting him involves, and had a another brilliant performance against Hatton. However, his decisions when chosing opponents are not the hardest and riskiest - Mayweather makes the more money, Pavlik and Cotto get the biggest glory in 2007.

    Shane was not a Floyd mandatory , and shane turned the offered down when it was presented to Shane to fight floyd, and how does cotto beating a Zab coming off a year lay off and a sound defeat from Floyd make cotto a candidate for fighter of the year?
