Garcia starved himself 24 hours before the weigh in. He looked like a damn skeleton, weak and fragile.. but confident. Instead of complaining, Garcia went on to beat Matthyse's ass like a man, earning the biggest victory of his career. Geale could of done the same but quit. He just doesn't have what it takes to be great.
You sound like he knocked out Lucas. He barely edged the fight. It was nothing at all like Geale - Cotto. DSG should be fighting at 147 anyway.
He beat his ass and became the UNDISPUTED JWW champion of the world after that fight. You're acting as if Matthyse is a bum like Geale. Matthyse is probably the best JWW atm right next to Terrence Crawford. Instead of making excuses, he went on to score the BIGGEST win of his career like a true man. Something that Geale lacks. Quit once, you'll quit again. Some boxers just have it, some don't. It's what makes Froch a true warrior and legend. He has about as much guts as anyone out there.
I'm not sure what's your point in all this. Garcia fights at 140 and he was 140 at that fight. He wasn't forced to fight at 137, so if he struggled to make his regular weight, it shows lack of professionalism rather than anything else. And again, he didn't beat any ass, he won the fight 114-112 which is 7 rounds to 5, hardly a beat down or schooling.
Danny was contracted to make the 140 limit just like Geale was contracted to make 157. They both struggled making weight and both ate nothing for 24 hours before entering the scale. Danny looked weak and fragile while Geale looked the same as he did in the GGG weigh in. Danny went on to win the biggest fight of his career while Geale quit and got beat up. Guts being the only difference here. Some people just have it, some don't.
Gift did pretty job at scoring low blows, spitting his mouth piece out while hurt, and knocking Matthysse down while he was through the ropes. Weeks shouldn't have called that a knockdown, but it's clear he was reffing for Garcia. With a neutral ref, I think Mattysee would have won despite being a one-eyed fighter. Gift is that mediocre.
He beat Matthyse's ass. Get over it already. Garcia simply has what it takes to overcome adversity. This is the same fight which everyone said he was gonna lose and get KO'd. The bookies in favor of Matthyse was unreal. Garcia showed how to fight like a real man. Something Geale lacked.
Gift only won by two rounds on two of the judges cards. However you scored it, it was actually a fairly close and competitive fight despite Matthyse being worse for wear. So we can conclude that without a corrupt ref who allows Garcia to low blow all night, spit his mouth piece out while hurt, and count an illegal knockdown that Matthysse could have very well won the fight despite being a one eyed fighter for half of it. Gift struggled while fighting dirty, against a one eyed fighter. Think about that for a moment. Matthysse definitely beats him in a rematch. Especially considering how limited Gift has looked since.
