Was Danny Williams stunning KO over Tyson more impressive than Lewis's win over Tyson

So basically there no legitimate reason for ANY of Tysons losses?

    Douglas: Didnt train properly, distracted

Holyfield (x2): Was past prime(even though he was 29/30)

Lewis(who was older than Tyson): Was shot

    Williams: Was completely shot

    McBride: Was super duper shot.

I mean I can definately understand the last 2, no one is claming Tyson was anywhere near peak then.

But Douglas and Holyfield, theres no excuse.

Against Lewis he wasnt prime, but then again, neither was Lewis, and Tyson was still considered dangerous.

I'm not making excuses for him, he rightfully lost against Douglas. That doesn't change the fact that he had lost all his motivation, and factors outside the ring were not helping him. Very few people have the self-discipline of the Klitschko's and the Mayweathers of the world, or the will to push yourself year after year in the most punishing sport about.

That said, anyone that thinks a motivated 20 year old Tyson loses to anyone on that list apart from Holy and Lewis needs a brain transplant.

Tyson was overweight and not putting forth much of an effort in either match. However against Williams he totally blew his knee out while trying to put his weight behind a right hand....

Tyson fans say he was past his prime, but no fighter in over the hill at 29.
When Tyson got out of prison the crackheads he had been feeding on were mostly gone.
Tyson wasn't worse, his opponents were just tougher and better....

Lewis was not shot against Tyson, far from it. That fight was only 6 months after his 4 round destruction of Rahman.

He is certainly not shot here. Fantastic movement and controlling the range easily. In fact the English commentary team at the 9.00 mark say "That's Lewis's best performance of his career".

that fight is the exception. if he looked crap in 1 fight but good in all his others i wouldn't say he was shot.

but he looked crap in loads of fights & good in 1. & in that 1 fight he was extra motivated & rolled back the years to produce one last great performance.

he'd been on the decline since holyfield 1. he'd been getting by on craft & power for years.

Hell ****ing no! Tyson was shot AND still kicking Williams ass before Williams got lucky. Tyson took punches much harder than that on his prime.

Against Lewis, Lewis even though older then Tyson aged better than him. Tyson had admitted he wasnt anywhere close to his prime since 1990.

Anyone not born in the 90s knows after Tysons comeback theres an issue of the Ring or KO magazine where he said he hated boxing. You know his heart wasnt in it anymore. He always loved it as a fan, but he didnt want to fight anymore. He had/has many debts to pay.

Tyson looked himself against Mathis, Bruno II, Holfyeild I (before cut) and II (before the cut again), and Golota.

Its not until comeback #3 with the Nielsen fight we really see him letting himself go, packing on pounds and looking very lethargic and sloppy.

there are other factors, age is a number you need to look at other qualities aswell.

For example if two people were born on the same say, same time and barring injury or unexpected death one person was to live to 80 and another to 60 then the person who lived longer was always naturally younger than his counterpart.

Look at Tyson at 14/15 looked early 20s, his genetics were quick and I dont think he programmed to live into his 70s and 80s, at 45 now he looks jaded, whilst other at his age look fine.

His prime, from physical to technical was from 1986 to 1988, his skill with each passing year declined.

He was physically shot by the Nielson fight.

Tyson 1.0 - Early pro March 1985 to Feb 1986 - Raw, awesome, still learning

Tyson 2.0 - March 86 to June 88 - Started with J. Ferguson fight and ended Spinks fight (Prime)

    Tyson 3.0 - June 1988 - 1992 - Still a powerhouse, but less boxing skills

Tyson 4.0 - Aug 1995 to Jul 1997 - At his strongest physically but lacking in spirit and skills

Tyson 5.0 - Dec 1998 to Nov 2001 - Huge punching but lacking, and inconsistent looked awful versus Both.

Tyson 6.0 - Nov 2001 to Jul 2005. Shot physically, terrible against Nielson, Lewis, Ettiene, Wiliams and Mcbride.

Nah he lost fair and square, just like Ali lost 5 times, like J. Louis 3 times, like the Klits 3 and 2 times, Like Bowe once, Like Liston 4 times, like Frazier 4 times, like Foreman 5 times, like Holmes 6 times.
