Was David Higgins In On The Fix Over His fighter Parker getting Screwed over by the Ref?

Do I think that Parker himself was in on a fix? Absolutely not. No one is in on a fix after taking a shot like he took for the 2nd knockdown and then getting back up. You'd be staying down and collecting your paycheck right then and there.

Could the ref have been, if not in on a fix, shall we say biased towards a certain fighter? Of course. IJL is no stranger to controversy and something like a ref favouring a home fighter doesn't even need to be bluntly discussed. Hearn is the biggest promoter in Britain, I'm sure that a quick 'I hope Dillian gets to fight his fight' to some refs would ensure at least that he gets to fight dirty without penalisation. Not quite a fix, but in a 50-50 fight, definitely a game changer.

Now as a man who needs to be punched in the face with the truth before I believe something ( or maybe the back of my fat head if it's Dillian dishing out the blow ) I'm inclined to go with Parker just blowing out of his arse. However, it's not an impossibility, far from it.

Either way, strange performance from Parker.

It reminded me of the fight in Raging Bull when LaMotta, who is supposed to throw the fight, hurts his opponent real bad and has to hold him up against the ropes so the other guy doesn't fall down.

Parker acted as though he was just going through the motions.

^This. If the fight was fixed, Parker would have stayed down in the 9th and his profits would have quadrupled. Funny thing is, I still had Parker winning 114-112 on my card, but Seph is right, 2 fights in a row the refereeing and judging vs Parker has been appauling. Not saying US vs UK one is better than the other, but you can see why guys like Wilder have no interest in fighting across the pond when Parker isnt given a fair shake in order to lift the profile of Matchroom fighters. Tony Bellews commentary is as bad as Teddy Atlas and likewise should be banned from future UK telecasts. Absolutely terrible.

i couldn't even hazard a guess at what that nutter Higgins gets up to, but i think its more than a coincidence that if the ref had ruled the 1st KD, correctly, as a headclash, then Parker wins the round and the fight finishes a SD draw

How could anyone even think that such a fight could be rigged, this is the outfit that bought us such legitimate events as aj vs king charles spaniel, who rolled over to have his tummy ticked for a few biscuits. Or football casual fleece fest bellew vs the toeminator, not once but twice. Unfathomable they might do anything detrimental to the integrity of this honest sport

    I found it odd too.

In the post-fight press conference Higgins seemed to say the referee just made a few honest mistakes this time.
And I do wonder if Eddie Hearn had made David Higgins sign a secret clause where he would make no more complaints about the officiating when the fight is over.

There's something very odd in it all. Higgins who was so vocal and vigilant about the refereeing in past UK fights, comes out of a fight where he has legitimate and huge cause to complain about Parker being fouled constantly, and he says nothing, and apparently wasn't even watching the fight.

Joseph Parker's made good money in the UK fights, but he's clearly been used and abused by Matchroom.
And to make matters worse, the SKY commentary team were voicing the view that it was all Parker's fault and fouling is all good.

    The refereeing was terrible.
The referee ignored fouls constantly, and then "warned" Whyte constantly, and Whyte carried on fouling constantly, and the referee carried on "warning" Whyte ….. never took a single point away.
Despite having clearly cost Parker 2 or 3 points due to a bad call in round 2, he couldn't bring himself to dock Whyte a single point for the fouls that him and everyone else could see.
And he picked Whyte up as Whyte was bent over with his gloves on the canvas. The referee picked him up.

    This was textbook hometown refereeing.

Except 35% of his next might is a much different number when he wins rather than loses.

Never said Parker would win so try again.

I actually said I hope the best man wins on the night as I like both fighters.
