Was Dempsey the only boxer to stand over opponents after knocking them down?

I haven't seen other boxers from that period doing the same. So was this tactic unique to him or do we know of others who'd employ it. How was it seen at the time? Is Dempsey's use of it the reason it was banned?

I used to wail on my coach before he could get up and take the pads off his hands, easy days work he didn’t stand a chance against the three of us.

The opponents could have done the same to Dempsey, the problem was they had to knock him down first!

Jack was itching to get at Tunney in the long count, what cost him in the heat of the moment precious seconds.

I think the rule change cost him, not the 'long count'. Tunney could survive with Dempsey in a neutral corner but if he was standing over him, probably not.

That's what I meant to say Charles, if he'd have not been pushed back and told to go to the n corner, then who knows.

And Jeffries is pushed back in the ring ,with a second inside the ring ,two automatic disqualifications which were ignored,by Rickard the referee

The referee began counting as soon as Tunney dropped Dempsey ,though Tunney was not in a neutral corner.

Ah ah forgot about that. I think George was trying to see if he could hammer Roman in to the canvas there!
Didn't he smack Frazier in the back of his head in the first fight to?
To be fair to George tho, Frazier was up and down so he probably wanted to make sure he got the job done.
