Was Donaire over hyped or just got beat by an A-class fighter?

He's an elite world class fighter who just happened to get beaten by a fighter with a freakish skillset.

Beaten by an A class fighter. Stylistically he was always going to be problematic for Donaire. Rigondeux is a quality fighter. Better than I and others thought. Mind you on this forum if you get beat once your entire set of credentials is now worthless.

this, saying donaire is only hype is similar to discrediting the level of rigo's win. I remember back then similarly about donaire going to face mijares, mijares again the slicker fighter. I think donaire would have loss that one

2 elite fighters faced off last night and one of them came out on top that is all. They both remain elite. Look at who Donaire has faced and how he has beaten them, he is an excellent boxer who will go on to have a great career.

Rigo is amazing, great background and only a handful of pro fights in faced the man of the moment and takes the glory, deservedly so. He won by a wide margin last night, god only knows what fight those judges were watching.

Hopefully we will get to see a rematch but I doubt it, Rigo will find it hard to get guys in the ring after last nights performance.

I still wopuld have no issue seeing Donaire in a top 10 p4p. But it certainly wouldnt be top 5 or anything like that.

Think he still sneaks in. A guy isnt judged on one fight alone.

Donaire's a superb fighter, a p4p top 10 fighter, Rigondeaux's even better still though, it's scary to think how great he can become in the next few years
