I don't think he was, he was very motivated and he did something no one had previously done. He wasn't scared and went kamikaze on Tyson. Douglas also had big help from Tyson, but no excuses should be made. Douglas laid out the blue print on how to beat Tyson.
dont understand why people cant grasp that taking some PED's is a tiny price to pay to escape from poverty, pro athletes have been on for more than 50 years
No. He was sick the last few weeks before the fight. He got one of those January in Ohio flu bugs. It caused him to lose weight. The weight loss actually helped him.
This was his one night in the spotlight, the fight he will always be remembered for, no need to try to put a question mark behind it.
I don't believe he was. He came in with the right mentality against a fighter who's opponents where usually half beaten just walking to the ring. His mother had passed away just before, and he used that as his motivation to win. Another thing that gave him success was that he did't allow Tyson to physically impose his will. Buster was a big guy, and strong enough to take Tyson's tactics. Was the same w/ Holyfield years later, when he beat tyson. He manned up and didn't allow Tyson to intimidate him, and actually took the fight to him. (And used a headbutt a time or two )
Maybe he was maybe he wasnt. A roided Buster Douglas should not have any chance against a prime fit and healthy and mentally focussed Mike Tyson. But he wasnt any of those things on the night.
There is absolutely ZERO evidence (or even the slightest contemporaneous allegation) that Buster was using any PED. This thread should be shut down.
