Was Dubois overrated by the British media?

The British media does overhype their fighters. They also sometimes let UK refs be corrupt and help UK fighters without calling them out for it.

But so does the American media - they hyped heavyweights Jared Anderson and Deontay Wilder, plus many from lower weight divisions. And the US media sometimes lets corrupt refs and crooked judges help American boxers without saying anything.

One thing I hated was the UK media always going on about the low blow in Dubois-Usyk I. It was a low blow, and Usyk won every minute of that fight.

The British media isn’t educated about boxing, and it sees its job to promote the fight and British fighters.

If they were to tell the truth about Dubois then the fight would not sell. It’s the same reason why so much BS is pushed about AJ, they are trying to sell the fight.

 

Well the hype he received for has-been Klitschko put him into another stratosphere of hype entirely. Completely ridiculous hype.

They are all paper champions. Martin, Joshua, Dubois. None of them defeated any fighter recognized at the time as a legitimate champion.

AJ's resume isn't that much better than Joe Joyce's. Actually Joe Joyce did as well or better against common opponents.

Joshua was/is a good a heavyweight fighter. But people need to put the hype to bed now.

AJ would never have been a champion in a 2 belt era. That is a fact.
