Was Erik Morales the only ATG never to be the Lineal Champ in the last 50 years?

Is Roy Jones Jr a lineal champion?

 

Definitely though? Not saying he wasn't but i'm not sure. In 93 we had the likes of Nunn, Eubank, Benn, and Toney all holding alphabet titles, and would surely have been ranking at the top of an independadnt list of 168 pounders, then Jones beat Toney and would leave the weight division in 96. Maybe he got lineal recognition towards the end of his campaign at 168?

Clear it up for me if you can though please.

Jones wasnt lineal at 168 unless both he and Toney were considered 1 and 2 coming into their fight, which they may have been with Jones taking out Mallinga who was robbed against Benn and Eubank, but thats a bit spurious. In reality these were the best 2 at the weight but at the time RJJ wasnt a fully proven top2 at 168. Toney was lineal at 160 and not 168

If you consider Unification creating a linear champ then there's a case for Jones at 175 if you don't agree to Hill/DM being linear at that weight. There's also a case for Jones being linear when he beat Tarver, if you see these as 1 and 2 at the weight

 

Barrera wasn't the linear champ then. Morales was the WBC and Barrera was rebuilding following his two losses to Junior Jones
