Was Floyd even aware that he would lose to Dela Hoya in their fight?

Nah man, he was talking about fighting Oscar since he was at 135, so we are talking about 2002. It's the reason why he kept moving up in weightclasses. He may have even mentioned Oscar when he was at 130, but im not gonna go thru post fight interviews to check

Yea but I don't think it was realistic at that point in time to make the fight happen. 2005 was more realistic IMO.

It was one of those ugly "academic" losses too. The ones where nothing is really happening to the untrained eye but if you intimately know boxing? You realize Oscar threw everything AND the kitchen sink at the guy and couldn't make anything work. It was pointless and would just replay itself getting progressively worse for Oscar no matter how many times they fought at that stage of ODLH's career.

In a way I now kind of understand now why he broke down like he did. That ish was a master class schooling of a living legend. Yet people clowned him for it calling it boring. To do it again would have been pointless.

Probably why he broke down and wanted to retire. People weren't giving him the respect and credit he deserved for that fight.

If Oscar could have made it atleast semi close the judges would have gave it to him. When Floyd turned down the second fight, i knew he didn't have the desire to fight again. When you have the 2 biggest draws in boxing, regardless of the first fight, thats money. As long as Floyd stays on top of things financially, i doubt he enters the ring again unless he just wants to feel the adrenaline a big fight brings to an athete.

Floyd clearly won, regardless of how many rounds you gave Oscar.

Most likely. I think he wanted to retire after the first Oscar fight, which was his intentions. Hatton called him out. Why not take that fight? Thats an easy, big payday, so he decided to cash out again. He didn't appear to be motivated for that fight. A motivated Floyd would have "Gatti'd" Hatton, but it was just a fight to make money. He ONLY came back because of bad investments. The Mosley fight put him back on track financially. He's retired as long as he stays on top of things.

Are you at least midly ******ed? Those pictures were in response to the other poster saying that Oscar didn't land any punches. I have said before that I felt Oscar won the fight. Not based on facial swelling... but based on who I thought won more rounds, obviously. I felt Oscar won 7-5. I didn't think it was a robbery because there were so many close rounds. End of story.

This message board has become pathetic anymore with the stupid responses from people who don't even bother to make sense.
