So with all this talk these days about runners, and how Turki doesn't like them, I've often heard Floyd called a runner. Was he? This is the first pole I've ever done so we'll see what happens lol.
Overall? Absolutely not. Now where there times that you could argue he ran (Castillo 2, Maidana 2, Pacquiao, Baldomir, etc.) but overall, Floyd was a pocket fighter. He made you miss and made you pay. How can he be known for his shoulder roll defense and be a runner at the the same time? The shoulder roll works best in the pocket. I don't consider his fights with: Cotto, Maidana 1, Judah, Gatti, Corley, Mosley, Ortiz, Canelo, Mitchell, Hernandez (Genaro), Ndou, Augustus, Bruseles, Chavez, Marquez, etc. as running.
I don't think he was a runner, but I do think it would have been interesting to see whether the Saudi money would have forced him to up his level of competition on a consistent basis.
A boxing match is about being the most effective to achieve a victory, within the rules of course. Floyd Mayweather Jr was/is a defensive minded fighter that landed more often than not vs his opponent.
He was not a runner. But, he would still often stink up the joint. Turki would not have any interest in Floyd's fights.
Of course he would. Floyd was the face of boxing and a mega PPV draw. He generated tons of money. Turki would 100% have interest.
This is all about Haney and especially Scull running around. Comparing Floyd to either of those feather fisted runners is an insult to the world of boxing
