I'm just wondering what you guys think about this? I used to be a big fan of Floyd at one time and i thought he was the best boxer out there. When he changed his name to "Money" he lost me as a fan.

This guy could have been the greatest boxer of all time like he told us all. But he retired while the best in his division were fighting each other.

I'm sorry but Hatton at 147, Marquez who was dragged up 2 divisions and a 38 year old Mosley don't prove nothing to me.

Floyd had the skills and talent to be the the best of all time but he blew it. Feel free to vote on the poll folks.

In a way yes. His resume at 140lbs and above could have been a lot better...but even with the Cotto's, Margarito's, Williams' on his record, could he have been the GOAT? No.

No, his talent is only wasted because of his many injuries that don't let him finish his opponents off. Maybe he shouldn't have retired after Hatton, but his body needed the rest

I wish he had balls to go with that talent. He would have been so much better that way.

Seeking the biggest 'names' and the biggest money fights instead of seeking out the best? You bet your arse he's wasted talent.

Floyd Mayweather is one of the most accomplished boxers of his era and best fighters of all time. I don't see how anyone can perceive him as a wasted talent.

yeah i guess being a pound 4 pound #1 ranked fighter and winning titles in five weight classes makes you a wasted talent.

    moron.

  9. I think what the OP is saying is that Floyd is great, but he could be even BETTER.

    Which I agree with.

not really... floyd's opponents were never on the same time line as he was... except for cotto...

margarito's prime was the cotto fight and the time margarito wanted a fight it wouldn't have made sense
same above goes for paul williams
pacquiao is on the right time line but there are to many hands in the pot
cotto deserved a shot but floyd got greedy and was going to let cotto dust off odlh before fighting him

floyd is my favourite fighter but i feel he has wasted his talent in the sense that he does'nt fight often enough and one day he'll wake up and realise he can't do it anymore.

    3 fights in 3 years isn't enough

No because he became as good of a boxer as he could have become. He's not a guy like Zab Judah who had all the physical tools but wound up wasting them under the wrong trainer with the wrong guidence and never reached his true potential. Though many of us may dissagree with Floyd's choice of opponents, he has fought plenty of top level competition and come out on top every time. And you can't say that he could have been better if he would have worked harder. Guys like that are what I consider a waste of talent.

Floyd shouldve fought more past prime NAMES like pacquiao..

and if he was a Puppet like pacquiao and played that nice guy routine he wouldve gotten more deserved credit...

instead manny fought the past prime names..is a TRUE ******* in real life but smiled for the camera's gave em what they wanted and look at him:

he's got one of the most overated resumes of all time and all these goofs say he's top ten LMFAO

That is what i am saying. Floyd has the talent and skills to be the best of all time. In my opinion he didn't do that. So in my opinion he was a wasted talent.

Basically every one of Mayweather's fights was a lopsided virtuoso performance, except for Castillo where he was injured. The only fight left to complete his legacy is Pacquiao, he has nothing left to prove.
