Floyd is not a wasted talent. He is actually an underachiever who worked his but off and was priviledge to be brought up in a boxing family.

Hes not a natural like a Pacquaio who was born to fight but didnt have the guidance to hone his skills properly early on.

A better question is who had the better resume BELOW 140lb. Pac or Floyd since that is before either of them became megastars.

i think barry mcguigan summed up mayweather;yes he is a great boxer , but he will never shock you' ,he is just not prepared to take any risks in the ring.

Im not sure theres much more Floyd couldve done.

Boxing is a business and a lot of fighters for a long time wouldnt
risk fighting Mayweather - when he was on the way up, the risk vs reward
    factor was probably too great.

Floyds 41-0 and beaten all that would step in front of him, theres not
much you can do if the other perceived p4p no 1 wont take a test to
    fight you.

A lot of african americans go astray, so the fact that Floyds remained
in the sport and at the top of his game, its a fair accomplishment.

On top of that, I think he had a lot of trouble with his hands, which
    probably caused inactive time off.

I see it like this. with the talent and overall once in a generation skills that floyd possesses, along with excellent timing and speed, the boxing fan who wants to see their generation's best fighters fight the best there is all the time, that fan will see him as a wasted talent. the fan who is content with his overall fight resume is fine with floyd.

    word:thumbsup

the thing that cracks me up and simultaneously saddens me from a fan's perspective, is the fact that the only thing that has kept us from being able to legitimately measure him against the sugar rays, whitakers and armstrongs of the sport's history, is floyd's own mentality. floyd is a strange, strange fighter and person when you look at it. he's probably the greatest fighter ever to not fight the absolute best out there regularly. I can't think of any other fighter who compares to him in that respect, except maybe calzaghe, who floyd is much greater than on a pound for pound scale.

This is the same guy who said "Lagacy Don't Pay Bills" He never wanted to prove himself the greatest. Really sad as far as i'm concerned.

    Yes, By far....
Look at it is way Floyd and his supporters have given every single excuse to not take this fight not take that fight, there are bigger money fights ect...

sure in taking that route you get paid, but you also give up something in return, the history books are not written as clear as they should be becuase you choose to go that route....

Why is it Floyds fans do not want to see Floyd in specific fights? Margarito, Or Pacquiao or who ever why is there always an excuse not to fight?

What good is having all of that skill if your not willing to put them skills to the test? What is the point? Sure boxing is about money but its also about history and legacy why not fight everybody who is out there to fight? that makes more sense than just the paycheck....

Whats so frustrating is that he would have made history and tons of money fighting Cotto, Margo (3 years ago) and Pac would have been the biggest money for him.

Exactly, and this is why my hats off to pac, regardless of my opinion regarding catchweights the mother ****er goes out there and fights them all.....
has done far better against Common opponents he shares with Floyd
