That's what he implied in his autobiography didn't he? I wouldn't say he was.No. I just think he skipped with his roadwork the weeks after he was cut in the ring and this-together with the humidity in Zaire-affected his performance.

Apparently, Angelo Dundee also tried to loosen the ropes in the first Frazier fight. They would have remained loose,unless they hadn't have been pointed out to Yank Durham
Notice how Ali goes off the ropes after Foreman's corner asks them to be tightened in the fifth round.

 

I was being sarcastic. Dundee did no cheating. I think the ropes were actually tight at one point after they had to cut the rope lengths because they had ropes for a 24 foot ring or something. Either way, the heat is what loosened them.

 

Haha.No. Angelo is almost certainly lying,when he says he was trying to tighten the ropes. I think Norman Mailer mentions the loosening of the ropes by Dundee,in "The Fight".

I think George has to blame himself for not coming in peak physical condition on the day of the fight.

I think he tries to throw his right hook,in the later rounds,but because of the lack of conditioning in his legs and hips he loses his balance and stumbles.

 

The ropes were loose, Foreman was possibly drugged by his trainers as he drank funny-tasting water, and he also was distracted by seeing his disloyal friend in the audience root for Ali when Foreman was about to knock Ali out.

Foreman actually says all these things in his autobiography, which came out in the 90s, after claiming that he finally "accepted" that Ali was the better man in Zaire.
