I could go with that, but an observer might make note that the loose ropes allowed Ali to lean out , back and away from punches that would have landed with shorter range if the ropes had not been loose.

Disrupting the punching stance of a person who is a puncher nullifies quite a bit of what he can accomplish. Ali's activity along the ropes had that effect.

Got no opinion of the drugging, but it just seems to me that the ropes aided Ali and worked against George's strength.

 

Morirson and Briggs are glasschinned no stamina C level fighters who Foreman only fought because he thought he could touch that china and they were going away.....fact not fiction.........however if you are slow as molasses it ain't gonna happen. Would Foreman form the 70's steamroll them in a couple of rounds ? Sure, no question.

On further notice, who of ANY noteworthy did those two borderline yourneyman ever beat ? Yeah, a old Foreman , thats about it, otherwise they were laid out when they stepped up or had life and death struggles with other mediocre fighters. Period.

Similar to Rahman/McCall who were able to land a decent shot on a so so chinned fighter but otherwise they were on a similar level than Briggs/Morrison aka their whole rep comes from on fight..............where the caught their opponents at the right time.
