Was Foster`s KO over Tiger a result of the greatest hook ever thrown?

I read Lee Wylie on twitter stating the way Foster threw that hook was the best example of how to use the hook as a KO punch, his hip rotation was perfect, which KO`s via hooks are better than Foster`s KO over Tiger?

It's debatable, my opinion of the greatest hook ever thrown was Robinson's KO of Fullmer.

It was a great left hook but....the KO was more a case of a huge Lthvy with ATG power knocking out a small Lthvy

There's been others, but that was a picture perfect left hook.

That clip showed exactly how the punch is supposed to be thrown; the weight turns in front of the hands. If you compare that to more recent clips, you will see that currently the style is to push off the left leg, keeping the weight on the left foot. If the weight is behind the "punch" it is, in reality, a push. While you can push pretty hard, a push can at best only aspire to be a shove, and that lacks the concussive impact of what you saw there.

There's an excellent case for it. Given Tiger's durability and the historical significance of the win it probably come down to this or Robinson vs. Fullmer.

Sugar Ray Leonard's kayo of Davey Boy Green is breath-taking, with perfect set up and delivery. Elegant but devastating. Samuel Peter's knockout of Jeremy Williams was extra-devastating.

Arturo Gatti's left hook to the body of Dorin is now a forgotten high point to Gatti's career, as Gatti effectively spared himself the task of going through another life or death brawl by burying his knuckles in Dorin's liver. It was sort of the equivolent of the Allies somehow unexpectedly winning World War II in late 1940, instead of waiting till 1945 and having to go through Italy, Guadalcanal, Normandy, etc.

The wind up and connection on Nonito Donaire's left hook to Fernando Montiel was gorgeous. Throw in the almost cartoonish visual of the knockdown for bonus points.

Why not? There`s a correct way of throwing the hook and some hooks have more effect than others.

Frazier putting Ali on his pants wasn't too bad either.

It was a tremendous left hook but no better than Foster's K.O. of Mike Quarry. My all time favorite left hook was Patterson's K.O. of Johannson.

Not often do you see a guy connect with a punch he would hit with full force on a heavybag.. But he did on Tiger. Tiger's head bounced on the canvas also, which adds to it. I remember Donald Curry's head bouncing also after McCallum, which to me was the oddest left hook I ever saw in someway. Well come to think of it Donald against McCrory was odd also. McCallum sure gave Curry a taste of his own medicine from the McCrory fight.

Robinson-Fullmer probably edges it - his had to be perfectly thrown to put Fullmer's lights out. But this is a strong contender for runner up.

Plenty of left hooks were just as devastating Hell, the left hook Foster landed on Quarry was even more frightening . Leonards hook on Dave "Boy"Green ,Robinson's on Fullmer, Mccalum vs Curry , Curry vs Mccory , Then the knock downs by J.Frazier over Ali #1 and Holyfield vs Bowe #2 were devastating simply because of the competition was so great. Esp the knock down of "the Super Heavyweight" Bowe by the smaller blown up cruiser Holyfield.
