Was Froch vs Pascal, more entertaning than any fight Calzaghe was ever involved in?

hmmm...i'd say yes. i did enjoy Kessler fight and also Mitchell but Froch-Pascal had hairs on back of neck standing. Pure Machismo

 

Probably was, but you have to take into account that Calazghe was so much better than a lot of his opponents. The Froch-Pascal fight was so good because they were so evenly matched, and hence there was a lot of give and take.

Fights were one fighter is much more superior to the other, and administers a beating, are rarely what you would term "exciting".

The Byron Mitchell fight was exciting because Mitchell put Joe on his ass with a punch that, in most contests, would have led to a stoppage. But then Joe came back immediately with a dramatic stoppage win of his own.

And the Kessler fight was good, because Kessler is just a very good fighter, and was able to hang with Calzaghe for much of the contest, thereby creating excitement.

And there is also styles to take into account. Hopkins was arguably Calzaghe's toughest opponent, but their fight was a **** spectacle.

Depends what you find entertaining I suppose. I have seen pub brawls and street fights more entertaining than Froch/Pascal if that's the kind of thing you like. Amateur style brawling with not much skill and wide open defences. The Byron Mitchell fight was the closest Calzaghe fight you'll see for that kind of thing but didn't last long enough.

Personally I would take the Calzaghe boxing lesson on Jeff Lacy over any fight that Froch has been involved in. That to me is what boxing entertainment is.

 

Kessler/Calzaghe was Calzaghe's best fight especially if you were on here at the time. The buildup was great, it was a tense occasion, great crowd and atmosphere, top dogs at the weight and everybody had a differing view on the fight. And it was a great tactical fight until Calzaghe pulled away towards the end.

 

its fights like froch vs pascal that get the casual fans really into the sport.

for me i really liked the calzaghe/kessler fight, i can remember at the time joe offering taylor 5 million instead of unifying with kessler and i hated that idea, i felt for a moment that joe was really ducking kessler and wanting to pick on a middleweight instead was taking the ****, fair play to joe for taking the fight, kessler caught him with some great uppercuts.

ive watched calzaghe/lacy far too many times otherwise i would've gone with that over pascal/froch.

 

Froch v Pascal was a fantastic fight. Turned a few of my friends into real fans that night! Would love to see a rematch at some point because they are both great warriors and no-one really loses whatever the outcome
