Three of the WBC: same total as Foreman, more than Liston. Nine of the lineal, with Fury being the 2nd longest reigning lineal champion.

But more importantly, Fury's the only fighter in boxing history in any weight class (to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong) to dethrone two 10+ consecutive defence world champions.

Foreman was a boxer for 28 years, a champion 3.5 years in but only had 3 (and one was a gift decision against Schulz lol). What a hypejob! He'd be so much greater if he'd defended against 10 Coopman's, Dunn's and Evangelista's (the rough equivalent of what Vitali did), rather than knocking out Frazier and Norton.

I haven't followed him after the Usyk loss but he wasn't overrated at that point. Perhaps he fell out of love with the sport, maybe lifestyle changes

We have no way to know if Wilder was the next best in the division because he never took the fights to establish himself as such. And didn't Joshua offer to fight Ortiz?

Also you seem to be trying to downplay Joshua's accomplishments when it suits you (for example when you want to excuse Fury for not fighting him the Ruiz loss is always brought up) but somehow when evaluating Usyk's heavyweight resume it is suddenly a huge win. You seem to be all over the place.

You can't take people's opinions on this forum too seriously. They have an irrational hate for Wilder and AJ and will tell you with a straight face that a guy from the 90s like Botha would smoke them.

No, I never saw much hype around a HW Gassiev .. I mean he's been off the radar for years & riddled with injury.. the CW Gassiev of 5 years ago was a genuinely good fighter who put in some impressive work.. look at the Dorticos, Wlodarczyk & Lebedev fights... but inactivity kills.. consider that since 2018 he'd only had four bum fights going into the Wallin contest.. that's ridiculous.. you can't step in with the top contenders at HW after that.. he was impressive at CW but missed the boat at HW as a lot of CWs do.

The term overrated could be applied to 90% of the heavyweight division.

Bad promotion and long periods of INACTIVITY have ruined many fighters.

I've seen it happen over and over again.

I don’t think Gassiev is overrated, he has just been horribly inactive these past years and I believe it has impacted him negatively.

Zhang threads have nothing to do with reality.

He lost to Hrgovic, went the distance with 6 and a half Rudenko, and stopped in an impressive fashion the tailor-made Joyce. The end. He had clear shortcomings through his whole career (slow feet, low output, gas tank; due to style struggles with educated feints, good ring geometry, and fluid head movement) and the half century of experience means nothing compared to numerous bouts against elite opposition.

You had threads proclaiming he would beat most of the 90's or demolish the likes of Ali, Holmes, Lewis, or Foreman, which is starkly different from the reasonable claim he would beat Marciano or Sullivan (not including Louis you mentioned, because he is the size of some modern competitors with elite attributes and actual showings against all-time great slicksters, 6'6 250lbs+ fighters, and some murderous hitters.)

I reckon how Gassiev would show up against opposition approaching the top level was always tough to predict. There were some reasons to absolutely write him off (numerous nearly career ending injuries, smaller frame) and to believe he can pull off some notable wins (seemed to carry his power up etc.)

Actually the man that just beat him is "currently" the most overrated active HW.

Doesn't even have a win over a top 15 HW, former champion etc.....but is in conversations about being a "top" HW? How that work? :ohno

I haven't heard anything about Gassiev being a top HW, that in of itself would lead to the conclusion he's not overrated as he isn't really in the discussions..........
