Was George Foreman REALLY any better than the likes of Sam Peter?

Aj has bigger biceps and he's ONE INCH TALLER !!!!
OH MY GOODNESS he's SO MUCH BIGGER THAN LEWIS (not)

yet despite all of that he doesn't weigh any more than Lewis because it his not his natural weight. Anthony Joshua is not "bigger" he's just a bit taller. If Aj was 3 inches taller then sure but just 1 inch ? Lol

Let me tell you something. Did you know that Vitali Klitschko was bigger than current Aj ? Did you know that Michael Grant was bigger than Current Aj ? Did you know that Akinwande was taller and weighed almost weighed as much as current Aj ?

Why ? Because as I've said 240lb+ isn't Aj's natural weight nor did his body adapt well to the added muscle mass because his gas tank is poor compared to Lewis's at these weights. Joe Joyce for example is a natural 6'6 giant, Aj is not.

Listen i seriously cannot see how you think Aj beats Lewis. Aj looks so amazing with his combos and counters because he's a pure textbook fighter and has fought mediocre fighters like Pulev and Takam and bums like Martin and Molina. But when he steps up the competition and fights Parker or Povetkin or even Ruiz, fighters that have good offense, he tends to be more gunshy and doesn't look as destructive. Against Whyte Joshua looked good with his offense but Whyte caught him several times and he was very methodical regardless, he's extremely upright and lacks fluidity. His combos are quick and efficient but very predictable compared to Lewis. Lewis is a better inside fighter than Joshua and he's a better pure boxer as well and lewis's jab is so much better. All Joshua has over Lewis is speed. That is it. And the speed difference isn't that much.

Unless Lewis came in overconfident like against Rahman or overweight and old like against Klitschko, Lewis would blow Joshua's back out. This would not be a 50/50 fight. Legit i like Joshua better than Fury but Fury would stand a better chance against Lewis

Foreman, at least in his second title run, fought way smarter than Peter.

Peter relied on his natural gifts of power and resilience but never developed the complete skillset needed to fully leverage those gifts.

Foreman fought crafty and figured out over time how to get the most out of what he had.

Peter started his career crude and never really progressed passed that. He had tons of power though no doubt.

Ohh, Foreman if he had find out " key " had fought very smart also in 70 ies.
He had easily dealt with 2 boxers who had gave real hell to the same famous Ali: Frazier and Norton.
If Foreman didn't had " key " then he looked not that impressive. If yes, then he looked damn smart fighter.

Maybe. I don't think it really matters anyway considering their gulf in delivery. And in addition to his ring control Foreman was much better at using his body mechanics to generate power, while Peter almost always arm punched when he wasn't throwing wild telegraphed OH rights. But for what it's worth James Toney considered Peter the hardest puncher he'd ever been in the ring with. Considering how badly he shook him up I can believe that.

He also had a tendency to come into fights overweight, so there was clearly a commitment issue there too.

If he could have learnt to deliver his punches properly, trimmed down, and learnt to employ some head movement (probably all wishful thinking) he could have been a very dangerous fighter, instead of the limited slugger he was. But even with virtually zero craft and an E. Honda belly he was able to nab a title and give Wlad one of his hardest fights, so there was some potential squandered there for sure.

This post is pretty disrespectful, tbh. I'm no fan of George Foreman...think he should've listened to those officers, but he got family still living. And they don't need this crap right now. He was not a fessional fighting man like Peter was/is. That is not a fair match. He wasn't healthy enough anyway. Let's let sleeping dogs lay.

If you think Foreman was just some crude slugger then you DKSAB. Comparing Foreman to Peter is like comparing Mike Tyson to Arreola or Mayweather to Broner.

There was plenty of technique and crafty boxing too Foreman beyond that great heavy jab that alone separated him from the crude Peter. He was trained by Archie Moore for Christ sake and you can see much of the oldschool skills Moore passed on to Foreman especially later in his career, from the Walcott like walking uppercut, to the Cross arm guard, to his clever use of his size and strength to frame, push, pull guys into positions where they couldn't hit him and he could hit them.

Officially Sam Peter is 40 years old still.
He still has time to show us he is as good as Foreman.
