Was Golota Drugged?

Why the question? It's a fact he was given an illegal injection before the fight that caused a near fatal reaction and recieved 1 million dollars on a lawsuit settlement.

As to if he would have won? Probably not. It's Golota. Had he outboxed Lewis for 11 rounds, he'd slip on a banana peel in the 12th.

 

Yes, it was almost fatal unfortunately. Golota was fined $5,000 by the New Jersey Athletic Control Board (I believe) but was definitely fined. Andrew collapsed and suffered a seizure in the dressing room following the fight. As to if he had won, well, I remember a number of experts picking Golota; Lewis was just a 6-5 favorite if I'm not mistaken. I always believed if he showed up w/ the same braveness as he did for Bowe I & II (apart from the low blows) he would have given Lennox a war and maybe even would have won. I'll go out on a limb and say Andrzej would have dethroned Lennox that night and would have been crowned the first Polish heavyweight champion of the world.

 

No, whether drugged or not he was intimidated by Lewis and consequently got blown away.

 

Goddammit...i knew there was something wrong with the kid..but knew nothing all these years about the lidocaine...this explains it all...i also expected him to test lewis"s intestinal fortitude into a career changing beating...a mix of the ray mercer and 1st rahman fight....Lewis at that point had questions about his resolve...which he emphatically answered in the 2000s.

Yeah, I always have heard that he had a panic attack in the locker room. Didn't know it from an injection, though.

 

I just thought the reason Golota looked as he did against Lewis, was realizing what he'd let him self in for!

 

Golota is so odd, in preparation for the Tyson bout I have always suspected he took steroids in Tyson’s bio he noted boils all over his back (a sign of steroid abuse) who takes damaging substances like PED’s only to quit in the first?

 

I doubt Andy did roids honestly.

 

But now you realize that he wasn't and Golota was an ATG. It was them drugs Jake!!

 

Damn didn't know that. Not sure whether or not he'd win, even without the injection - but he'd give a much better account of himself by giving Lewis a much tougher fight - regardless of the outcome.

 

Lewis tested positive for intestinal fortitude after this fight.
