Was Golota Robbed in '04 at MSG Because of The '96 Riot There?

Agree. Golota beat Ruiz. It was clear. Ruiz' cornerman was something else, what a maniac.

Do you think the reason for the robbery may have been that it was held at MSG -- the same venue where Andy caused a riot? That, on top of Andrew's criminal past from Poland, made him look something like a bad boy in the eyes of the judges. Do either or both reasons seem to you like the cause of him getting robbed that night?

I respect that, thanks for commenting on this here too! Happy to hear you saw those enthusiastic Polish fans! But if you had to guess, do you think causing The Riot is why he got robbed eight years in the same venue? If you don't have a guess, that's fine. Appreciate your input as always.

Don King wanted John Ruiz to win.

So you think Don bought the judges out for that? Why do you think King preferred Ruiz over Golota, a guy more entertaining and marketable?

Don King didn't want John Ruiz to win. John Ruiz didn't draw flies.

That's why Andrew Golota got three title shots in a row.

I lean towards the former. Golota was on his best behavior in both fights (Ruiz and Byrd).

People complain about the Wilder-Fury decision in fight one. But Wilder was the champ and scored two knockdowns and pulled out a draw. In Golota-Ruiz, Ruiz was the champ, and he was floored twice and lost a point on a foul. Can you imagine if Wilder had been floored twice AND lost a point on a foul, and still won a unanimous decision? Can you imagine the uproar? That's what Ruiz did.

Golota boxed brilliantly in both fights. All we hear on this board is what a great boxer Chris Byrd was. Golota outboxed him.

    Thanks much. I appreciate it.

No. After thinking about it a bit, I don't. First, in the Riddick Bowe fight I don't think Andrew Golota CAUSED the riot. He caused his own disqualification, for sure. In the immediate aftermath of the DQ, it was Bowe's people trying to beat up Golota, not Golota's people trying to beat up Bowe. Then idiot lemmings in the crowd decided to go crazy. Why? It was a good DQ. Golota got what he deserved after plenty of chances. Bowe got a victory in a fight he was losing in a big way. What caused the riot was too many people in the crowd making poor choices.

Also, Golota had a very enthusiastic New York fanbase. Conspiring to steal the John Ruiz fight from him as punishment would run the risk of causing another riot. I don't know why they would do that.

They were to build up Byrd,Ruiz and Brewster. The only who really passed the test was Brewster.
