There is no evidence that suggests he was past his prime.

He always looks like he is in his prime when he is fighting the “Steve Rolls” & “Syzmerta” whatever their names are type of bums.

when he fights someone that has a pulse he suddenly looks mortal / “past prime” in the eyes of the casuals.

Of course he was. Mother time beats every fighter. Goldeboy did everything they could to pass time and once GGG started looking mortal as if by magic they want the fight lol.

The most funny thing are people who are thinking that they are not casuals and calling others as casuals.

Simple, unrealistic fans are entertaining. Sometimes to read their posts is more funny than watch boxing.

    Why to discuss with you?
For you most likely only Canelo does have pulse.
You are exactly casual fan: for you most likely there are only 2 sorts of boxers: #1 and these without pulse.

canelo, derevyanchenko, Daniel Jacob’s, Andrade, Charlo.

    All guys who have pulses.
Where GGG looked “past-prime” according to this forum. (Fighting 3/5)

Yet when he trashes cans after those fights ...
He suddenly looks like the GGG from HBO glory days.

Here we go Clenelo fangirls acting as if Golovkins speed and footwork hadn't declined as a 35 year old.. Deluded jokes

Yes, he was past his physical prime. Many people don’t understand how the human body ages. A fighter’s physical prime starts to slowly decline at around 30.

Some fighters age faster than others, but at 35, even the most well-conditioned athlete will start to lose some their athleticism. Twitch muscles are slower, reaction speed is slower, hand speed is slower.

GGG was never that fast to begin with, so losing a little bit of speed against a fast fighter does make a difference. It was GGG’s boxing skills that allowed him befuddled Canelo in both fights.

On paper reality is indeed reality, so I would have to say no not in his prime. Undefeated and looked/fought the same, though. Of course his hand speed seems faster against the Wades and Ishidas.

Rarely does a great fighter lose in their prime, with the perk of retrospect. Usually the best stretch, or prime, of a great fighters career features no losses, naturally.

GGGs power and chin has always served him well against lower ranked opponents. Obviously against Elite fighters you need more than power.

Against Canelo his slow hand speed and the fact he is willing to take punches proved to be to his detriment.

I do feel Team Canelo to their credit had the perfect game plan for the rematch whereas Abel Sanchez sat on his behind and made no adjustments in the rematch

Ach, c'mon! He was 35 YEARS OLD!! No one is in physical prime at that age, especially after over 400 amateur fights and 30 odd professional fights.

There is a reason Canelo vacated 160 after Cotto, and it's NOT because "he wasn't really a 160lb fighter".

I don't subscribe to most of the tinfoil hat stuff around Canelo, but he obviously waited for GGG to get a couple of years older with more miles on the clock until he took him on.
