One wonders what more footage would do for Charlie Burley. I know he wasn't overly a natural middleweight but he sure had some tools there.

Hagler was the total package as a fighter. Being able to switch stances so effectively not just as window dressing but fight well. I can't think of anyone that could do as many different things well.

One of the overlooked assets Hagler brought to the table top notch footwork. In his prime. Its subtle, not flash like Ali or Robinson. Some people think Im kidding until they watch some of his fights at hid best.

The casual sports fan may have seen his bouts with Leonard, Hearns and assume Marvin was just a come forward brawler. He was a technician mainly.

He was good at every aspect of the fight game and not invested to any one part of the sweet science enough to have weaknesses in his style. A good warrior does not have a favourite weapon as Sun Tzu said and no other was as proficient and well rounded as Hagler.

there are Mike, of course there is...

150 years of Boxing, thousands of competitors at the TOP over those years, there are many, many great fighters who possessed all of those great attributes.

Boxing is a Business, Partisan, Owneship and Control, Lists only tell part of the Story... Boxing History is littered with great fighters and richer the SPORT, not the Biz, for it.

Yeah, he definitely had a bit of everything. I can't come to think of a more well rounded MW. Few in boxing as a whole, actually.

    Fantastic fighter.

Comes down to Hagler or Robinson.
I'd choose SRR's fight IQ over Hagler's stance-switching, but the argument for Hagler is just as convincing

Exactly. He was a technician until his reflexes slowed enough that he got into brawls. He was technically so good and when in his physical prime he was just too good at what he did to even get in a tough fight.

At his best, I can't name any weakness Hagler had. So definitely yes.

Nah. Leonard proved he had trouble vs slicksters. Lucky for Hagler, he only faced one. A great, but also retired, bad-eyed welterweight. Yes, Hagler was past it, but he was a full-fledged middle and was active.

Hagler was jack the ripper, with gloves! Probably the best ever middleweight; either him or Greb

    Besides Hair?

Hagler is top 5 MW at worst but he wasn't invincible. Struggled with a fat, smart lightweight (Duran), and slick boxers like Leonard and Watts. Hopkins would have been a problem for him. Toney was not in his best form at 160 and I think Marvin beats him up.

All you can say is that he right up there in the top echelons.
