I've seen a lot of claims lately that Hatton was shot to **** for the Pac fight. This is very interesting being that he had only lost ONCE, and was coming off what is realistically his best win (Malignaggi). Sure he gained weight and did some blow between fights, but Hatton was still relatively young.

If Hatton was truly an ELITE fighter, he wouldn't magically become the useless "shot" Hatton we saw in the Pac fight. His athleticism may have gone down a notch, but the fact is he had NO skills to fall back on. It was in this fight that Fatton proved to the world once and for all that he was indeed a manufactured fraud.

Let's take a look at Erik Morales. An elite boxer through and through, no doubt much greater than Hatton could dream of. What's interesting about both of them, is they both had terrible out of camp habits. Morales would eat **** food and drink tequila for months, then step into camp. Morales was in more wars than Hatton could dream of, yet despite all this, he always managed to deliver.

Why could Morales deliver while Hatton could not? Simple: he had elite boxing skills to fall back on when his body went down a notch. Hatton had nothing similar, and this is why we saw the embarrassing effort against Pacquiao.

Hatton was "shot" by a Pacquiao punch.

No. Even a prime Ricky Hatton would have almost been stopped by Lazcano

yeah going up to 200 lbs definitely does shorten your career. I don't think any version of hatton could have beat pac though.

Of course when youre being pounded on, you wont be your usual self when youre winning. Ricky got rushy and unintelligent when he couldnt hit Floyd and he got the same when Pac was beating him down. He's the type to fold under pressure.

Anyway, no Hatton wasnt shot against Pac. That fight went the way it was supposed to, and the way it would go at any point in his career. He's simply no challenge for Manny.

He was depressed, had started using drugs, he wasn't shot, but he was faded. The Lazcano fight showed that.

The consensus seems to be that Hatton wasn't shot, but lacking in elite skill.
