So you're asking Cotto to do someone no one else has, work Hattons body over. I'm not saying he couldn't have done it but as soon as you get into that line of thinking you are making a decent sized leap of faith when you make your pick.

This forum confuses me, it needs an idiot filter and quick.

I can remember not too long ago people claiming Hatton had a case for being ahead of Calzaghe even after the pacman loss.

People are quick to slate british fighters and claim other fighters are better but not the other way round.

Hatton wasn't the perfect fighter but he was bloody good for a period of time.

I guess I look at someone like Khan, calling out the best in the division, fighting potentially career devastating fights (which someone like Hatton would never had the balls to do), potentially unifying the division within 2 years of winning a belt and then you look at Hatton and you can see right through him and his phony reign. I was a Hatton fan, but why wasn't he out there, settling scores with domestic rival Witter, fighting a dangerous fight against Miguel Cotto to prove who was top dog, taking on a tricky Ricardo Torres instead of shot Castillo.

He took shítty options and fought easier fights and it's all disguised behind a good win against an old and inactive Tsyzu and paydays against p4p champs which were win-win for Hatton.

What a difference a year makes. Khan's really only fought one dangerous fighter ever in Maidana. I don't think that's quite the same as facing the best in the division, like Tyszu.

Zoo wasn't inactive when Hatton fought him, he was 5 months past a very impressive demolition of Sharmba Mitchell (doing the job quicker then he had the first time they met).

Why don't you blame Cotto for not fighting Hatton instead of laying it all at hattons door?

If Hatton had of fought Torres but not Urango you'd be on here asking why Hatton ducked Urango and saying Torres was unproven, that he has been sparked out in 1 round by Holt wheras Urango would some monster who went on to make several successful defences of his world title.

Theres no pleasing people who look at a boxers career in that light, just looking for the negatives. Records have holes in them, weak opponents in them. Thats boxing.

(BTW you havn't answered my question about the imaginary "fallacy" you invented)

"Cotto doesnt like working at a pace" where does this come from? Cotto pre Marg was know for really turning it up in the late rounds. He threw 678 V Mosley landing almost 40%!!!!! threw 723 V Clottey, 683 V Zab. These are big numbers

    Tyszu would've absolutely schooled Madaina.

As a 140lber one of the reasons given for him getting wobbled in fights (not against Paulie I hasn't to add!!) and failing to finish of Mallinaggi was that he was weak at the weight and unable to sustain the workrate.

That certainly seemed the case in the Mallinaggi fight as Cotto kept getting Paulie in trouble and then doing that little "walk-a-bout" thing he does when he wants to reset himself or wants a breather.

You`re spot on there mate............Hatton did look bloody good when defending his WBU belt.

He also didn`t look too bad when David Parris allowed him to foul Tzyu all night in Hattons back yard.

Tsyzu was getting on though, and it showed. Hence why he retired after. If Maidana had fúcked Khan up there was no way back for Khan. Maidana was prime and dangerous. Tsyzu was old and at the end of his career.

Prior to the Mitchell fight Tsyzu hadn't fought in nearly 2 years. Since the Judah fight he only fought 3 times in 4 and a half years. That's a fighter in the twilight of his career, winding down.

I never said Hatton shouldn't have fought Urango, that's a decent win. Urango was never that good but he was an undefeated belt holder and after Ricky beat him he did re-gain his title before getting knocked out by Devon Alexander. But Hatton decided to fight a passed it Castillo for the IBO belt instead of Witter...again or another younger belt holder Torres, who again, nothing special but had a decent KO record and gave Miguel Cotto a tough fight before finally wilting.

As for blaming Ricky. I'd blame Frank more so. Arum was willing to match Cotto up with Hatton but it never materialised, given Frank's track record of protecting fighters. It's not beyond plausibility that he didn't want to put Ricky in with Miguel.

It doesn't take a genius to know where it comes from. Cotto gasses late and can't keep up a pace for 12 rounds, that's a fact. That's one of his biggest flaw, he doesn't hide his fatigue, he starts bouncing around and most good fighters easily pick up on it and he doesn't sustain his combat effectiveness when he gets gassed. It's either survival mode or taking shots, Miguel can box but he always loses something when he goes backwards.

I saw him gassed down the stretch against Lovemore Ndou. They said it was because he struggled to make 140 but that was not the case because he's displayed it many times afterwards. He definitely struggles with change up of pace because Cotto does everything methodically and at a slow ryhthm.

You said "inactive", not winding down. I was just pointing out Zoo was not inactive when he fought Hatton.

The point I was making with Torres and Urango was a general one. Which ever opponent wasn't on his record, thats the one that you'll say Hatton should have fought

It just seems you are looking at everything negatively and not judging the situation fairly.

"Hatton should have faced Cotto to prove he was number 1 at 140"? Fair enough but its just as fair to say "Cotto should have faced Hatton to prove...."

Arum did not make any serious noises about matching Cotto with Hatton, both sets of teams seemed content to let it stew and build up. Then Cotto outgrew 140. Nobodies "fault" and "blaming" someone for the fight not happening is pure guesswork and just biased.

Fighting a high reward low risk fight against a guy the best boxer in the world, a weight above you, essentially being paid for a loss that won't affect your legacy doesn't give you a pass for earlier ducks.

Imagine if Ricky had fought Cotto or even Witter and lost.....bye bye payday with Mayweather, bye bye pay day with Pacquaio....bye-bye 50,000 people watching him fight at Eastlands.

There goes 3/4s of his career earnings.

But boxing a business I guess. I'm old fashioned, I like fighters who take on the best in their division, try and unify belts, become undisputed top dog in their division. People like Carl Froch....look at him, fights Pascal-Taylor-Dirrell-Kessler-Abraham and still can't get a fúcking deal with Sky and make half the money Ricky made. Ricky fights powderpuff people like Maussa and Lazcano and makes millions

Perhaps Froch should have gone with Frank Warren, fúck the Super Six, who needs that. Frank would have got him on Sky Box Office fighting Jeff Lacy-Jesse Brinkley-Edison Miranda-Brian Magee rematch- Dmitri Sartison (well, we need a "world champion in there, has to be the weakest one though!)

Stuff fighting the best in your weight class. You don't get any recognition for it
