The amount of holding and hitting and rabbit punching against Zoo was unbelieveable. And yet Hatton didnt even get 1 warning by the British ref.

The worst and most telling part for me, and you can see this plain as day especially in the first half of the fight, you can clearly see Hatton nod to the ref once HE wants the clinches to be broken. But what ever.

damn right, hopkins has been fighting dirty all his career. and not just holding but headbutting aswell. do we ever hear anyone complaining about him? ....no apparently hopkins is a great tactician

and lets not get started on holyfield's 3rd fist!

Yes when he lunged into Tzyu's balls with a blatantly intentional full force uppercut he was warned. No point deduction desdpite it being the most obviously intentional fould I have ever seen in boxing.

Indeed, it is unexcusable. Such a blatant and damaging foul, a dq would not be out of the question.

I'd say a DQ is excessive because it's such a big fight and it's not like Kostya was unable to continue but not taking at least one point just proved the point that Tzyu was fighting 2 guys in the ring that night.

true but at least they are fairly slick about it especially headbutts. hatton does it in an outright obvious way and got no warnings. i don't mind dirty fighters that much as long as they are slick enough to not get caught.

So lets take names out and make this a hypothecial situation and tell me what you would do if you were a ref. Fighter A takes a step back, picks his target and lunges forward with a full power uppercut to the balls of fighter B. Give me one good reason not to take at least one point.

so you are saying an intentional low blow should not have been a point deduction? i think Miranda would think it deserves a deduction.

I think you'll find Hatton was also warned for hitting behind the head too if I remember rightly. The fight was a full out brawl, completely 100% given by both fighters. It may not have been a pretty fight, but it was a fight in the trenches, with both men giving as good as they got.

The fight was refereed fairly and allowed to flow when work was being employed by both men on the inside. To say Hatton won because of Dave Paris is

    a) completely disrespectful to a great referee who has dealy with many world championship fights.

    b) completely disprespectful to Hatton who won a gargantuan, brutal, engaging encounter.

    c) a complete and utter dispay of sour grapes by those who predicted Kostya would knock out Hatton in 4, and then got out the excuse book as to how and why Hatton won.

Kostya and his team never complained, they were dragged through the trenches that night. Both men showed character and class, before, during and after the fights. Both are warriors with heart, grit and determination, and to say otherwise is to do them both and more importantly yourselves a disservice.

He got a warning and that was sufficient, Tszyu was warned for a blow that strayed slightly south according to the ref, and Hatton replied immediately in earnest, he let Kostya know that if need be he could dish it out as well.

    A warning each was warranted.
