After re watching Hatton vs Kostya fight, he walks onto some massive bombs. Kostya hit him with some big right hands but couldnt get him out of there.

Mayweather on the other hand managed to KO hatton landing a similar number of punches,

Is this because Mayweather hits harder than Kostya, or is it because, the constant gaining and losing weight had aready took its toll on Hatton and his inability to take a good punch had gone.

    Thoughts?

Pretty much. Collazo almost had him out of there in their fight. I think that fight damaged him personally.

Gaining and losing weight could have been part of the source. Mayweather's accuracy and sharp punches could have been another source. Hatton smothered a lot of Tsyzu's work if I remember rightly, Mayweather was still able to create space and land stinging shots.

Hatton showed a great chin at times, and was stunned from "nothing" shots at other times.

Not sure, but I do know that Hatton never saw Mayweather's check hook coming as he was lunging in. That had a lot to do with it.

I think his chin was never that great to begin with. I think Hatton's smothering and Tszyu's lack of snap in his punches enabled Hatton to survive against Tszyu.

Billy Graham said Hatton peaked in the Kosta fight, and the punishment he sustained from that had a massive effect in his future showings. He also got knocked about pretty badly in the Collazo fight.

But in regards to the Mayweather stoppage, I personally think he did himself more harm running into the corner than being hit with the punch itself. Being tagged with a left-hook and immediately having your neck hunched on impact against the corner, can’t have been a nice feeling.

Hattons chin was granite till he fought collazo where he was badley wobbled taking the shots from bigger guys at 147 didnt help - and probably paid the biggest part in him not being to hold a shot like he did. On a serious note id be interested to see where he started doing Coke and how much effect that might have had on his punch resistance/

It's his defense that was bad, not his chin. The KT fight was a foul-filled travesty as far as I'm concerned Tszyu would have beaten Hatton anywhere else. That being said overall Hatton was a very good fighter due to his speed, movement, stamina, strength, and resilience.

I think Hatton wasn't at his very best like when he fought Tszyu, but one thing for sure is Mayweather completely destroyed him and ruined him.
The only decent win he has after Mayweather is against feather fisted Malignaggi.

    Collazo nearly knocked him out.
    Mayweather knocked him out brutally!
Juan Lazcano (who was pretty much SHOT) nearly knocked him out twice !!

When Ricky was walking through walls back in 2005 , Billy Graham stated then that his lifestyle would catch up with him before 30 and he needs to get the big fights in before then !!!!!

His chin never looked the same after Mayweather , but i beleive it was the lifestyle that contributed to Hattons lack of chin not Floyds shots , yes granted Floyd hit him cleanly , but quite rightly as you said he took more punishment earlier in his career from some bigger punchers than Mayweather , namely Tszyu , and managed to walk through them .

Once the punch resistance had gone so had Ricky , he was a walk forward pressure fighter with no defence , he was multplying the power of the shots by coming face forward in a forward motion and straight onto shots , but that was his style !!!
