Was Hattons Loss The Biggest Ownage In The Last Few Years??

Get Oscar's nuts out of ya face, those were not "ownages." and even if they were, Tito had already bashed their faces by the time "fishnet" got to thematsch

Hatton was just like every other man who has stepped up to fight Mayweather - outclassed, but not 'owned'.

 

Calzaghe vs Lacy. By a mile. It was as one sided as 12 rounds could be :good. Was extra good because of all the people that picked against Joe:yep. It was like back track city after that fight.

 

hatton got beat by a helluva fighter probably a great one.the 1st six rounds were anything but ownage it was a close fight.floyd simply showed his class as it went on and knocked ricky out,no disgrace there,and certainly not ownage.

No one mentioned Nate Campbell vs Robbie Peden? Now THATS ownage!

The crazy thing with that bout was even though Campbell got his bell rung when playing with his food in the first he still got KO`ed AGAIN in the rematch.

 

I have never seen a more one sided beatdown over 12 rounds in a World Title Fight than when Calzaghe owned "the new Mike Tyson".

Now THAT was ownage :good

 

The answer is Hopkins vs. Trinidad. Trinidad was the favorite going into this fight, and had this grand scheme of beating Hopkins, then beating Roy Jones, then retiring. Despite Hopkins being a staple in the division for years, everyone thought Tito was going to starch Hopkins. The fight was at the Garden in front of thousands of Tito fans. To make matters worse, Hopkins threw the PR flag on the ground during the pre fight hype. The stage was set for the relatively young and hungry Tito with concrete fists to knockout the 35 year old Hopkins.

Not so fast. Hopkins completely dismantled Trinidad. He made Tito look like a rank amataeur out there; giving him a boxing lesson and winning just about every round in the process. Unlike Calzaghe, Hopkins was able to seal the deal in the 12th; putting Tito out of his misery with a picture perfect right. Hopkins outclassed and embarresed Tito that night;beating him like a wicked stepchild. Not only did he completely own Tito that night, he made him his son. Hopkins vs. Trinidad; ownage of the millenium.

 

Calzaghe vs Lacy 75% of the media and fans were saying that Calzaghe was an overrated slapper and that Lacy would destroy him easily

It still counts, and it was less than 6 1/2 years ago. That's recent enough

 

I can see that actually. Mostly because of the KO at the end. I think that Calzaghe beat Lacy round for round just a bit more. But I would definetly have that one second. :good

As far as Floyd's ownage over Hatton, I would actually place it 3rd just among Floyd ownages.

Number 2 was definately the Gatti fight. He called Gatti a C+ fighter and said he would humiliate him in front of his fans. Gatti isn't the greatest fighter, but he was highly rated at the time and it was a relatively big fight. Gatti lost every second of every round. Floyd hit Gatti with every combination possible, while Gatti didn't land one flush shot the entire night. After six brutal rounds, Gatti's corner finally waived the white flag.

Number 1 Floyd ownage was Corrales. Both men where young, undefeated, and top 10 p4p fighters(Corrales was acutally ranked higher). There was alot of trash talk and bad blood on both sides. Most experts had this a 50/50 fight. Unfortunately, it was anything but a 50/50 fight. Floyd was cautious early; content with using his superior footwork and handspeed to win the early rounds with counterpunching. As the fight went on, Floyd became more aggressive and started hitting Diego with harder shots. He slowly dismantled Corrales; knocking him down 5 times in the process. Diego's corner was forced to waive the white flag in the 10th and Corrales was reduced to tears afterwards. Diego would land in the single digits all 10 rounds. This was a compubox record at the time I believe.

 

I can see the Corrales as his best. But Gatti? Gatti was always going to get a swift beating.
