Hearns 5 biggest fights were leonardx2 Hagler, benitez and say hill.take out duran asvit was a complete size mismatch.all went the distance, all took his biggest shots.then look at the people he was koing from smw up,no one at all of note. He had a ko ratio the same as calzaghe. People rave on about the cuevas ko,the way i see it is,yes he was out on his feet off the first shot, but from such a murderous puncher,he hit a man with zero defence, didnt see the finishing punch coming and put absolutely everything into it,did he knock him out ? No cuevas got back up. Like i say he had pop but he was no killer
You can always "make" an argument, although not a good one. What's next? Ali was a clumsy, slow-footed, glass-chinned fraud with no heart?
Hearns power comes from consistency and the ability to sell ice to eskimos, That said his competition in the uk is very poor, frank warren's shows are shockingly bad. Having a cash cow like AJ gives hearn tremendous power on the world scene along with having a bunch of world champions, Not over rated at all, hearn has been putting in serious work to get into this position.
Mustapha Ali, the ice-cream salesman on the corner? I dunno, man. He once chased some punks halfway across town when they ordered a pistaccio, chocolate, toffee and strawberry tower with sprinkles and then told him to leave it and just give them vanilla. I wouldn't mess with him.
Hagler had an all world chin. Take him out of the equation, since no other middleweight in history really comes close to stopping him. Hill had a great chin, too...And he was gun-shy after feeling (a fading) Tommy's power. As for Cuevas, yeah...he got up, barely, but was in absolutely no condition to fight on. I mean, just because some guys were able to find ways to navigate the distance doesn't mean that Hearns couldn't crack. It usually meant that they were in survival mode from the word "go".
You're being intellectually dishonest. Calzaghe was a great 168 pounder that moved up one division and couldn't even knock out a shot Jones at 175. Tommy went from 147 to cruiserweight which obviously lowered his ko percentage. The comparative jump in weight for JC would have been to move up to heavyweight where he knocks nobody out, or even at cruiser. Had Joe made the same weight jumps, or even fought the number of world class opponents Tommy had, his ko percentage would have been lowered dramatically. Why don't you compare Tommy's ko percentage at 147 and 154 to Joe's career ko percentage? That's a more honest comparison.
