If Hopkins was a quitter he would of quit against Kovalev in what was a one sided flogging. Look at round 12 of that fight where he was well behind.

His tactics were questionable sometimes though.

Yeah Hopkins got in the ring when he was well past it and went 12 rounds with Kovalev when other fighters would go nowhere near kovalev...cant you B-Hop haters even respect that?

Hopkins would absolutely look for a way out in fights he was not getting his way. The quit job against Dawson was embarrassing. His acting was some of the worst ever.

In a way yes. Of things weren't going his way he cried foul. But he was OK with fouling the hell out of someone.
Dawson bout he quit. Calazghe bout he cried.
    Jones 2 he cried.
And that was the funniest fight and showed how far Jones was of Hopkins in terms of talent. A TOTALLY shot Jones managed to last with Hopkins and Hopkins couldn't really do anything with him.

In a way, probably yes. I find it meaningless over all though. He showed plenty of grit when it truly mattered in my eyes. I just consider him very very cagey and will take an opportunity to take quick easy money when it presents itself at the right time without actually throwing a fight or letting an opponent beat him (Dawson 1) while still being able to try and conquer that opponent for real in a rematch. Is it ethical? No... do I hold it against him highly as a fighter? Not really... because he showed that when it really mattered, he doesnt quit. Someone like Hopkins has done enough, and shown enough, (to me) that I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and cut him plenty of slack.

Again, is what he does ethical? No. But do I view it coming from a cowardly source? No... I view it coming from a greedy, securing payday, cagey source. If that makes sense. In hopkins mind it probably feels like killing two birds with one stone (getting two paydays for fighting once) while still not submitting or being beaten in the fight you 'cant continue in'.

Not saying they dont bug me (the second roy jones fight really was embarrassing and something I still dont understand wtf Hopkins was doing in there... if anything it seemed more like he was using those tactics to KEEP FROM fighting to KEEP FROM hurting Jones. Now is that what was happening? Probably not, but he was clearly acting in that fight and it was bizarre stuff for such an experienced and smart fighter who didnt show those tactics in situations that would have served him much better to do so.) And of course Dawson 1 was a shame too. I am just saying I dont view Hopkins as a quitter and I dont think his actions came from a cowardly place.

    But to each their own.
