One landed punch is worth more than 7 missed shots. You dont win an exchange by hitting air, that is ****ing ******ed

Yes Hopkins looked good against Pavlik but that was DESPITE his age, if that had been prime Hopkins, Pavlik would not have heard the final bell. As to why he finished stronger against Pavlik than Joppy, that is a ******ed question. He controlled Pavlik and fought at his own pace against Joppy he threw over 800 punches which he simply cannot do now. Had Hopkins set that kind of pace in the early rounds against Pavlik he would have definately been the one fading.

Hopkins prime years are really not up for debate. Now you are just bending facts to suit your argument. A fighters prime years may not be the years he is in his physical prime. Most people will say Hopkins prime ended around 2003 as after that his workrate clearly diminshed.

Cool. Anytime any of my favourite fighters lost they just had a cold day, not because the other guy beat him. Even if they looked brilliant in the fights before and after the loss. :good Thanks for sorting that out.

firstly clinton u pleb, hopkins won one of those taylor fights! and he near schooled the guy who beat taylor twice 2 years after the taylor fights! duhhhh! losing to prime taylor in close controversial fights is hardly a measure of his decline! taylor was a world class operator who has faded somewhat since! next.

brighton you are so delusional its almost funny! pavliks a better fighter than joppy! for a start joppy is barely 5ft9 lost to taylor, cesar green and barely won a close one over howard eastman lmfao! and to say you can pinpoint just about when bhops prime was is stupid to say the least! 'if this,if that' etc if only my aunty had bollocks she'd be my uncle!

In my eyes his 2 best wins are vs Taver not long before Calzaghe and Pavlik, after Calzaghe. Calzaghe's style is also one which depends on his speed, reflexes etc which diminish with age. Hopkins obviously not, just footwork, clinching, and a lead right followed by his best punch the headbutt.

    Can't use the age imo.

bute schooled joppy and the great cesar green was trounced in 4 rounds by byron mitchell! people bleat on about resumes but its time we called bhop's into question! facts are his 2 best wins were sandwiched between the calzaghe fight which speaks volumes and pisses on this prime nonsense! half the people bhop fought barely reached 5ft9 lmao!

:deal Hopkins won the first half of the fight, Joe won the second. Hopkins dominated the first, Joe dominated the second. Very convinient for Joe to retire when Bhops wanted a rematch and Dawson, Pavlik, Abraham, etc etc eagerly waiting to fight him. Don't get me wrong, I like the guys charisma and will to win, but simply his wins over Lacy and Kessler are overrated because Lacy and Kessler have always been overrated themselves.

joe would have run rings around pavlik! abraham was a middleweight joe was operating at lhw! dawson was a nobody at the time and cannot sell out a phone booth! and do u really believe hopkins deserved a rematch after that performance? i wouldnt want to see a return of that shitfest. kessler was rated the no.2 smw in the world and the lacy clash was a unification bout! lacy was coming off some decent wins with clear momentum behind him.

i rate the bika/mitchell wins over bhops joppy/allen victories! so stick the resume **** up your anus! sheika was coming off a spanking of johnson, eubank was 30 and was outclassing the guy who sent haye to kansas until the eye injury! reid was a top fighter, calzaghe beat him with one hand! brewer and veit are solid victories too! at least they dont wear shoe lifts!

You can suck Joe's weiner all you want fanboy. It won't give Joe any more recognition than your blo job skills. It doesn't matter how old Eubanks was he was already on the downslide. Joe's resume is what it is and he'll always be remembered for being dropped by a past his prime Bhops and a shot Roy Jones, Jr. That's why Joe will be remembered as a great fighter, but never in the class of Hopkins or Jones. ****, at least Floyd gave Castillo a rematch to silence critics at 135. Now go play with Joe's flute, you pathetic yap.

Age doesn't always tell a fighters prime, but Hopkins was 43 YEARS OLD when he fought Joe C. That fact can't be ignored. Nobody is close to prime when they are in their forties.

After Hopkins had the draw with Mercado he went 11 years without a loss, or even a close fight. His ring smarts and technique were combined with his youth and better athleticism. I'd say his prime was somewhere during that period and he was not near it when he fought JC, or even when he beat Pavlik.
