Was I the only one that wasn't surprised when Ruiz KO'ed Joshua? Or Fury's KO of Wilder in fight 2

I didn't think Ruiz was gonna KO Joshua at first, because look at him. But then I saw some of his fights and saw he can take a hit, then I remembered that Joshua would have lost to Wlad if Wlad had tried to finish it as it took Joshua's a round or two to recover. Also Joshua I believe was hurt by another fighter, I believe it was Dominic something or it was Dyllan Whyte.

After seeing this, I was kind of on the fence, But then I saw Ruiz on the mitts and I saw his speed. And I was like "Yepp,Joshua is getting knocked out"

I also knew Fury was gonna KO wilder in the 2nd fight, and I think he knew this too. I knew because I saw Wilder go life and Death with Ortiz in 1 of the rounds,I believe it was 8th. And I saw Wilder, when Fury hit him in the 12th Round and he looked like he was hurt.

I don't know if anyone else usually catches on to stuff like this and just acculuate data and come to the logical conclusion. it is quite easy actually

    Surprised by AJ-Ruiz 1.

Not in the least surprised by Fury-Wilder 2. Fury totally had his number by that point.

I knew Fury was going to box Wilder up in their 1st bout then eat Wilder alive in their 2nd bout and I could see prior to the 3rd bout that it was not going to be an easy night and that he shouldn't have really even been in that bout. & barring injury Tyson Fury will eviscerate Usyk.

Wasn't surprised by both. I'm still kicking myself by not putting $50 on Ruiz by 7. Got short paid that week.

I was surprised when Andy Ruiz beat Anthony Joshua in their first fight.

I expected Tyson Fury to beat Deontay Wilder in their second fight.

Yes you were the only one.

Hopefully you bet big and won big.

I'd say it's the biggest upset since Rahman beat Lewis. Although Fury beating Wald was a huge shock also.

I still remember Fury v Wilder 1 and Roach screaming for Fury to go for the stoppage but Davison telling Fury to stick to the pitty pat boxing,as the trilogy has shown Roach gave the correct advice . The second fight I was expecting Fury to do a lot better but did not think that he would put on the clinic that he did. I’m not so sure I was surprised tbh when Joshua lost to Ruiz,Ruiz is tough and has fast hands and this was Joshua’s first fight outside of Britain and his big reveal to the American fans at the Mecca of boxing at MSG and Joshua just did not seem his normal self, maybe Ruiz being a lot better than he had been given credit for and also Joshua letting the occasion get to him both played there part .

Well, it is probably worth pointing out that Ruiz didn't "KO" Joshua. It was technically a stoppage by the referee. Anyway, was I expecting him to win? No, of course not. Was I surprised that he won? No, I wasn't actually. Ruiz was a very dangerous replacement last minute who was begging for the fight. Already had world championship fight experience against Parker. And the obvious point for me was that he was a better opponent than Jerrell Miller. So then take into account most contenders will have studied the champion, whereas the champion won't do the same for each contender and it was a recipe for disaster. But still, I favoured Joshua.

Regarding Wilder 2. No, I didn't expect a KO. I think expecting a KO ignores much of what lead up to that fight. Sure, Fury finished the 12th strongly and going off that seemed to have Wilder's number. But the fight before he got cut very badly against Wallin, and looked pretty terrible overall. Then, in the fall out, he replaced Ben Davidson with Sugar Hill, so there was a lot of uncertainty. In contrast Wilder looked to have hit his peak against Breazeale and Ortiz 2 (though the second showed that he really couldn't box and how reliant he was on the right hand) I thought (hoped) Fury would win, but his performance was uncertain.

    Not in the least.

Here's @lepinthehood @kirk and I's discussion from the day before AJ vs. Ruiz.

    I even picked the mother****ing KO round!!!!!:yaay

On Fury-Wilder, while I picked Wilder, based on the heavy knockdown in the 12th for the rematch, I saw what you saw as well, and knew that was a distinct possibility.

@CST80 this part of your discussion above is a shockingly good prediction of how the fight ended up going after the first KD of Joshua
