That last punch looked way low. For sake of argument, is it possible that Kov's team can get this reviewed and turned into an NC? Has a fight ever been overturned from a T/KO to an NC after such a review ruled the punches were illegal?
It was an accumulation of punches, but yes the head shot is what really caused Kovalev to be most visably distressed.
This content is protected 27:00 First low blow in round 7. 28:26 Second low blow....this is less obvious as around 50% of the glove tags the belt but the rest is below the line. No time to recover, hence Kovalev blowing......then the headshot occurs. If the ref does his job properly, Ward never lands the straight right, Kovalev never gets hurt.....and we don't have a fight ending with another low blow.
The head shot was Wards best punch of both fighs. No question. But to me, the last punch right before the stoppage looked very low. Does the NSAC have the power to change it after review? I'm not sure, but it's worth doing if I were on Kovs team.
Watch the video i just posted. Kovalev hasn't recovered from the low blow. No low blow, no head shot.
I agree? That description was to describe to everyone what done looks like.. You don't get stuck in the ropes if you're not hurt. I don't think it was a good stoppage by any means.. But lets all cut the ****... He was done.. Trying to discredit Ward is bs. Those blows were borderline and not the reason he looked spent or hurt.
He wasn't stuck in the ropes....we wasn't punched onto the ropes, he chose to sit on the rope. Sitting on the rope is no different to taking a knee. I've never seen a fighter take a knee and waved off.
Ok the first one you said in round 7, that clearly hit the belt-line. Not a low blow. Also Weeks did rule one of Ward's a low blow, IIRC it was one of the lighter ones and it was clearly on the belt-line that Weeks gave Kov 5 minutes, and when he gave Kovalev 5 minutes, Kov said he was OK and chose to fight. I know there was another one later that Kov reacted to that Weeks didn't call a low blow. That one at the time didn't seem low either, but Kov acted like it was. Again neither of these seemed to be below the belt-line.
Are you serious? The one in round 7 is the clearest. The glove actually lands on the black lettering on the front of the trunks...its nowhere near the belt. The belt is white.
