It can probably be defended by pro refs and judges. I could have lived with a count. It is interesting to me that in the immediate moments following the stoppage The Krusher did not object strenuously, if at all.

Also.. The ropes holding you up is a cause for an 8 count.

kovalev didn't have the where-with-all/understanding to come in fighting dirty right back, right off the bat, even after their first fight.

so kovalev can't be ranked atg, upper echelon. sorry. 'should have done ward dirty back by the second round of their rematch, at the latest. do it before ward does it. upper echelon greats understand this.

but no, he didn't get it.

Just because Kovalev was having a bad second half to a round doesnt mean he was done!! He should have been give 5 mins to recover and the fight goes on, horrible stoppage but what the hell, if you were handed the belts last time by biased judges you might as well get the rematch handed to you too!! why not, its ward after all

Kovalev got blasted and was not firing back much. In a just and perfect world, after the low blow he would have been given time to recover. But I think even with a 20 minute break with refreshments served, Ward had him totally exhausted and wrecked physically to the head and body and mentally in the mind and soul and just solved and within minutes would have had him out on the floor. The low blow was hard for Ward to see and control because Kovalev was beaten into a crouch position. I'm really surprised how dominant Ward was. He was better than his fans say he is.

Weeks couldn't wait to stop the fight but the way kovalev folded was pretty embarrassing, the first time he is hurt in his career he doesn't have the guts to fight it out.

Awful stoppage, awful referee I don''t wanna see that referee again. How could he not see so many low blows.

Why Weeks didn't afford Kov a 10 count I'd never know. Pathetic performance from him. Credit to Ward for capitalising, though

it lacked a count, thats all.

You coud argue it warranted a point deduction but by then that was academic.

Why didn't Kovalev dispute the stoppage? He sat there and looked like a bi***. I would've fought the ref for that bs stoppage and all those low blows if they were in actuality low.. Just like anyone else would've.. Kovalev didn't for some reason?

Since there is no standing protection count in nevada, and the referee didnt consider that a low blow.

    there were 2 options

    1) let kovalev unprotected, gassed and sitting on the ropes to receive the beating of his life until unconcious.
    2) stop the fight.

Now you can choose one and say the other is wrong.
