Was it Fury's plan all along to wait it out until AJ was defeated (again)?

After the Saudi fight that never materialized between the two, Fury seems pretty happy AJ lost to Usyk even talking about wanting to train him for the Usyk rematch. I think that signals he knows AJ is off his back as a near term match-up and there isn't the expectation for them to showdown like there was a year ago., due to AJ's stock dropping.

Was that what he was hoping for all along?

No one can know what goes on in that man's mind. His brain alternates between genius and a feral bag of cats.

Was Fury hoping to lose 75+ million dollars for a match with AJ?
    No lol

Yes, that's why he was forced into a near meaningless fight w/ Wilder

It's all part of the "plan". :shakehead:

He didn't lose 75 million, whatever purse he would have gotten for the AJ fight was exchanged for the Wilder purse which will still be in the tens of millions.

I don't get any sense that Fury seems disappointed the AJ fight didn't go through and he doesn't seem to be pushing for it to happen down the line, even though it would still be a big money fight and only real big one remaining after Wilder III.

He is going to supposedly make 55 million for this fight, he would have made a lot more to fight AJ, If he would have beat Usyk, and Fury would have beat Wilder for the 3rd time the money on the table would have been astronomical

Usyk took his banquet off the table and that's that, there's nothing else for him to say. Should he be wallowing in Joshua's failure? He can only keep winning and see how the other pieces move. Fury-Usyk is the prestige fight now, assuming both men navigate their next assignments (Wilder III and perhaps Whyte for Fury, Joshua II for Usyk).

The Wilder fight earns him only 30-35% of the AJ fight and he could have had both. Fury stated multiple times he wasnt happy that he lost out on the AJ big money fight. I was just about to post the video that Navigator beat me to above

Not sure if you are over thinking this or just biased so that you cant see the wood for the trees

Fury and AJ both wanted that fight ... Fury not being able to beat the only man who had a claim to being the heavyweight champ and becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world is not going to bother Fury?? Lol

And let's not forget the money Fury missed out on ...

Fury vs Usyk won't be the same as Fury vs Joshua

It was times perfectly but Usyk got in the way
Ruiz flattening him spurred Eddie on to get it done before AJ got beat again

Fury absolutely wanted to fight AJ and not Wilder for a meaningless (for him) third fight.

I hope he stomps Wilder and takes his frustrations out on him.

Fury / AJ was much more interesting than Fury / Wilder 3.

Nah he wanted AJ. It was the easiest/least dangerous and most lucrative fight by some margin. But I don't think it would have added much to Fury's legacy as fat Andy-victim AJ is Wlad without the athleticism, power, skill or experience. Running a three fight gauntlet with KO artist sniper Wilder and then beating master southpaw mover Usyk would be much more impressive if he pulls it off.
