Was it Fury's plan all along to wait it out until AJ was defeated (again)?

Fury is obviously happy that arguably his biggest rival has been defeated, yet again.

In reality, it's still a huge bout, and a huge money bout. Fury will be more than happy to lose a relatively small proportion of the money in order to look far more formidable and accomplished in the public eye for the rest of his days. The guy has several guaranteed high income streams for the rest of his life. Fury is an egomaniac. If he loses or ends up with a worse record than the likes of Joshua then that will be a far bigger bruise on his ego (for the rest of his days) than losing a few million pounds that he can easily recoup elsewhere.

I want to win the lottery but they keep picking the wrong numbers.
