A mate of mine pointed out during the fight card the other night (Mundine vs Taylor) and he pointed out during the rounds Johnny Lewis was giving his fighter (Peter Mitrevkis jnr i believe) He was giving his fighter a drink of Gatorade, Which is Illegal in boxing or was just made Illegal not so long back. Did i miss something was it changed or something? Can anyone confirm this who taped the fight?
I am not sure mate but I have heard that ONLY WATER is allowed to be used during fights, Maybe I have this wrong but I remembering hearing this and my mate is the one who brought it up during the card last night and was thinking yeah he is right. So if anyone has any info on this, Be interesting to know.
Lewis/Mitrevski cheat? Surely not:yep I'd love to give it to both of them but i wouldnt call this cheating. More a bending of the rules voilation.
Not sure about the drink rule but fighting a guy with only 2 fights is more of a cheat if you ask me. If Mitrevski wants to step it up tell them to give us a call!!!
I am sure the rules were change not long back but can't be sure. Good question I'll do some homework.
I think the styles were all wrong in that fight, mitrevski fought a very awkward novice and it made for a pretty boring fight, Does anyone know if he intends on giving it another run at a title or is he pretty much content with the odd prelim fight?
NSW BA rules allow Gatorade to be used in between rounds so no rule violation there, however if there was coke in the gatorade we can start this thread up all over again
That is stupid, Why is that because I don't know of anywhere else that allows it? Maybe because its johnny and they don't want to get him into trouble :bart
That's ridiculous. Johnny is not above the NSW BA rules and I doubt very much he would try to be. Johnny's reputation is above reproach, Phil just told you what the rules are in NSW so leave it at that.
yet again, the question should be: why oh why do we need different rules for each state? If we are not united as one with boxing, why do we have the ANBF? It all seems very very pointless to me.
I agree 100% get one national body to make the rules and govern the Sport. wont happen as too many in the state bodies will lose there cushy jobs. Smell myfinger. What has lewis and mitrevski down to upset you so
