its only fair when both fighters have a the exact same sportsdrink between rounds. Most sports drinks contain electrolytes which helps a body rehydrate a lot faster than if you just drink water. So if both fighters start on a level playing field and come round 5 one is less dehydrated than the other then thats an advantage in a fight.

Lets take it one step further and say both sides do have a sports drink. Now if for example the blue corner uses brand A and the red corner uses brand B, and brand B is a more effective sports drink, then come round 5 the red corners fighter might be more hydrated than the blue corner and the end result - AN UNLEVEL PLAYING FIELD ;) so to avoid all this confusion its better to ban it ;)

    there you have it homer.

Mate, I'm not sure I would go along with the "Same sports drink".
    Metabolisms work differently.
I.E. you wouldn't give Slow K to someone that has been using diuretics to lose weight but it could be beneficial to others.

I have found that certain products that contain glucose cause excessive "thickening" of saliva & require copious amounts of water to keep the air pipes clear.

Using legal over-the-counter products that assist in maintaining peak performance balance, should, I think, be up to the trainer/conditioner & not necessarily be enforced as "one size fits all"

That may well be the case and I dont disagree with you either. What I was trying to point out is that it 'can' give one athlete an advantage over the other. thats all.

Point taken mate, but after all, that's the name of the game.
It's those little "advantages" that can win you the fight.
Homework is as important as gym work.
    No homework,,, fail test.

I thought the loss of the mouth guard a few times in the dib fight was much worse then the tape comming loose. I think Harding Zoo and fenech would have all become world champs under other trainers they had the heart and desire which i think got the 2 Jeffs to the title over there skill level. But then again what world champion only got there because of his trainer. i cannot think of one true world champ who wouldn't have. Would Ali and sugar ray not become champs unless dundee was there trainer. would be interested to hear what chamnps only got there due to there trainers

THANKS for your info but i still think the rule is stupid why not give the fighters the best chance at rehydrating wouldnt it improve the fights they could reserch the drinks in training to know what drink works for them then no disadvantage would be had
