was it just me or were hbo announcers worshiping groves performance tonight?

Perhaps they were banking on a Groves victory and saw him as a potential long term investment seeing how he is only 25.

I agree, it's like they were intimidated that he was there, anytime Paulie would bring up a good point they would all jump in and disagree and shut him up....

Paulie is like... Froch is doing good work right now... and they would be like... but "paulie" lol and it was getting annoying until Froch knocked him out and then they shut up.

The sky commentators were bull****. They seemed so disappointed that the fight wasn't kicking off, they started to whinge and complain. Then after the KO they hugged Froch like he was putting on a masterclass.

That guy with the high pitched, heavy accent seems to make up these little bias narratives that are only "based on" what's happening in the ring.

Yeah, when Paulie mentioned the ring sized and was shut down by that *****...then Groves started to use the ring and Paulie was like "that is what I was saying".

They had the fight in line with how I saw it. Groves controlled first three or four rounds. They picked up on the fact that the momentum was changing midway through the fight.

However, production was awful. They didn't bother to send their commentators. No post-fight interviews. Clearly have an agenda to promote Ward at every turn. Ward's not going to England, and Froch/Ward II doesn't do well in Oakland.

Also, I felt their handling of Donaire fight was deceitful. I reason that they already knew the result ahead of time before calling the fight. Since it happened at 11:00 am, I doubt they got there early to call the fight. Usually they will say something like, "this is how we called the action earlier today".

British commentary was awful last night. They had Froch up 59-55 at one point, couldn't believe it.

I thought they called it perfectly - Groves went into an early lead, but Froch started to take control with bodywork and dominating the centre of the ring. Their commentary reflected the action quite precisely.

I don't know what fight you guys we're watching - but Frotch wasn't landing much. Aside from a handful of good shots, every punch was missing or blocked.

I had Groves up, but then I don't listen to commentary.

HBO is a godsend in comparison with Jim Watt.

    That looks proper to me.

The Sky commentators were awful, they made it sound like Froch was winning all the early rounds too. Paulie tried to talk some sense, but most of the time Jim Watt put a stop to that. I ended up muting from 6 onwards.

I thought the commentary was right on. I think that the people who thought it was bad are really trying to find reasons to dislike hbo. Groves won the first 4 n then slowed n froch was doin some good work n they pretty much called it how it was. Seems like there's a wave of casual fans that have taken sides in the Cold War n decided to downplay hbo. Though I doubt they even know why. Wasn't snything biased about the commentary for hbo. Not sure groves has what it takes to be that successful but I was impressed with his counter punching.

Hbo had already stated Froch had no interest in Ward. There for by default they were hoping Groves would beat Froch to start beating the drums for a possible GGG vs GG or Ward vs GG fight . It was disgraceful. Was good to see froch mess up their plans.
