Was it obvious Haye was going to lose to Wlad from the 1st round of that bout?

These are highlighted clips of every punch Haye view v Wlad in their match-up, awful! Was it obvious that he could never deal with an 82 inch jab from the 1st round of that bout? Were people shocked at the time at how tame Haye was from the start of that match-up?

21:06 miss, 21:09 again, 21:26 too far out, 22:28 a yard off, 22:46 first right hand, 22:54 lands first right, 23:03 miss, awful! 23:15 misses right hand, 23:23 lands glacing jab, 23:41 glancing jab, 23:44 misses combo, misses 1-2. 23:57 misses right hand hook gets nearer.

Yeah, pretty much. David showed no intention of getting inside in that first round. We didn't see any appetite at all really. You just know when a fella doesn't fancy it.
Thousands of noisy Brits there too.

At the end of the day the great fighters and some lesser fighters are prepared to put it all on the line.
When his biggest moment was there Haye wasn’t prepared to do that.
He’d talked the talk but wasn’t prepared to walk the walk.

It was obvious that he was going to lose before the bout. Wlad specializes in controlling smaller fighters with the jab and distance, and Haye qualifies in that department. Yeah, he had the big punch but I don't think he had the determination to try brave the big right hand to get into range to let his own bombs go.

No, because you only need to make one mistake against a puncher like Haye.

Even so, it was obvious fairly early on, that he was not going to take the risks that he needed to as the smaller man.
