Was it "shameful" and "disgraceful" when Ali held opponenets?

I'm super mad at Wlad's boring boxing style :twisted::twisted::twisted:

The rules have been tightened over the years.

If you watch Ali, you'll see him grab behind the head a lot. If you watch Foreman, you'll constantly see him pushing fighters away. If you watch many fighters from that era, you'll see holding and hitting.

All of these things have been tightened over the years. What Ali did was acceptable by the rules of the day. What Wlad is currently doing is illegal.

And you have to put this into context. Ali never held when he was in his prime and only did so when he was years past his best, against some of the best fighters of all-time. He didn't hold onto a shot, completely overmatched opponent.

It's also a tactic which allowed Ali to be punched himself. if Wlad wants to hold, that's fine, but the referee should not immediately jump in to break them apart. When Ali held, the opponent still had time to work his way out of the clinch or to work Ali's body. Part of the frustration at the referees who show blatant bias towards Wlad.

Aside from all that, Ali still didn't hold as often as Wlad did.

 

My favorite is Bernard Hopkins who holds five times as much as Wlad does and it is called "crafty" on here. :roflatsch

 

Were you typing out these 5 paragraph essay posts when Lennox Lewis was clinching over and over and holding and hitting his opponent? There is no difference between the two. None. Poor Tua couldn't get near him without getting held and neither could shot Mike Tyson. Lennox clinched over 100 times in only 8 rounds in that one.

 

Hopkins works on the inside. He doesn't just grab his opponent, push them down and waits for the referee to break them up. That's illegal. He gets an opponent close, roughs them up and keeps working.

 

When Lewis clinched excessively, he should have been punished. Every fighter who wants to use those incredibly boring tactics should be punished.

Do you agree that Wlad should have had a point taken away?

 

What Hopkins fights have you been watching? All he does is throw a Jab and immediately grab. Not only does he grab but he wrestles, clinches, and fakes low blows. He is just as bad if not worse than Ruiz was. People on here excuse it (just like you did) for some reason. :huh:rofl

 

I for one also hate Hopkins dirty boxing style as much as Wlad's cheating jab grab style
