Was it the bottle or was something in the "smelling salts" in pryor vs arguello

The problem is Panama Lewis. Anyone else you could have given them the benefit of the doubt or at least some trust. I would think what was in the bottle was something to wake him up a little. No big thing. But you never know. He took some great punches, but Alexis was not that puncher at 140 as he was at 135.

Panama Lewis is a dirty scum bag who I have no doubt had a concoction in the bottle. I believe it helped Pryor attain his victory.

that was one of the worst knockouts I have seen. Alexis took a lot of punishment.

I'm sure Panama Lewis wouldn't have just thrown caution to the wind and jeopardised the health of a fighter to win.

I find it hard to believe that anyone thinks that there could have been nothing except water in the bottle he "mixed". It should have been an automatic DQ before the beginning of the 14th round if the ref had heard the conversation.

And whatever was in there had a pretty much instantaneous effect. Watching the British broadcast of the fight, Reg Gutteridge comments 'It's unbelievable, it's almost as if he's gone up another gear!' Reg had no idea how accurate his comment was - 'gear' being the operative word.

In fairness, Pryor leapt out to an energetic start in the round before the stoppage too. (I've never heard anyone say he sipped from the black bottle in any round but the last.)

Something was in the bottle, but I think it's unclear what effect it had.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it yet but Pryor claimed it was peppermint schnapps.

Probably was something more, but it is always good to get all sides.

If you've seen Pryor fight before that was par for the course with him. He always had a crazy amount of energy. This is a guy who would get knocked down and immediately jump up and chase the guy who put him down around the ring. He was like that.

I'm certain it wasn't Cocaine that's all I'm saying. It would have been counterproductive.

If Cocaine helped you fight better why did Aaron stop fighting and fall off the face of the Earth after '83?

Do really need it explained to you how the punishment Arguello received at the end of the first fight affected him in the second fight? Do you know anything about boxing or the human body for that matter?

    Smh.

And also, I've seen the article here on Eastside Boxing that Manny Steward said Pryor was a little worried going into the second fight because of what they did in the first fight. So it's not like Pryor didn't know what was going on and if they did stuff during the fight who knows what they did before the fight.

Scumbags, both of them. Pryor should have been out of boxing like Armstrong was kicked out of cycling and it's worse because everybody in cycling was doing drugs and it's not a contact sport.
