Was it the bottle or was something in the "smelling salts" in pryor vs arguello

Should be noted that Aaron Pryor was fighting great the entire fight. He fought his ass off from the opening bell. It's not as if he was getting his buttwhipped and then some magic potion saved the day. It was a great battle.

If ETM wasnt such a beloved figure would this issue have gotten as far off the ground? It may be hard to accept that he just got beat by a better 140lber.

It absolutely amazes me that there are people here who can't understand this.

Oh, I agree with you. Pryor was an incredible ball of energy so it's not beyond possibility that the way he started the 14th was all him. And I still consider it one of the very best performances of that era.

But I think it would be very generous to give the benefit of the doubt completely given the context and he did go up another level from where he was in the previous couple of rounds.

How Pryor fought during the fight has absolutely no bearing on the fact that an illegal mixture was given to him during the fight. Zero, zip, nada.

Wow, another computer screen Rambo (But a coward in life,I know just by the way your coming off calling someone a name, something you'd be to big of a COWARD to say in person) so I won't waste my time debating you reasonably because you've already shown yourself to be unreasonable . Your just a coward behind a computer scene. Leave the intelligent questions and answers to the adults please.

Well it was a little harsh so I did edit my post a couple minutes after so I apologize for that however your logic is flawed and it was still a stupid statement.

And it's 'you're' not 'your.' Grammar matters especially when you're claiming superior intelligence over someone.

Yes we all know there was something given to him. We don't know what it was or if or what extent it helped him.

I think it's a safe bet that it wasn't given to him to decrease his performance and it was illegal. Obviously I've never forgiven Pryor for this and I was going to send him a facebook message telling him what I thought of him but he was friends with Arguello's family so i didn't.

You think Pryor was even paying attention to that? He was busy in of the greatest fights I've ever seen. We know Panama is a low person there is alot unanswered.

I hate to take anything away from a fighter.

Back in the bad old days trainers would give their fighters a small nip of Brandy in the corner. It would stimulate the heart without intoxicating. Ofcourse there were no rules then.

Resto said Lewis gave him a bottle mixed with asthma medication for the Collins Jr fight. I imagine the contents of the black bottle Lewis gave Pryor contained something similar.

As I mentioned previously, Manny Steward who trained Pryor for the second fight said Pryor was worried because he told Steward they did some illegal things for the first fight so clearly Pryor knew. is is the same Aaron pryor who went after Tommy parks

This the same Aaron Pryor who went after Tommy Parks before the Bobby Joe Young fight. Young prompted deposited him on the canvas in the first round.

Maybe given the controversy he reflected on his time with Lewis and recognized that not everything was on the up and up.
Doesn't mean it was his idea(it was most likely Lewis's given his track record of being a scumbag and a psychopath) or that he was even complicit at the time

In the heat of the moment you don't really wonder about the taste of the water they're giving you, especially not when youre also tasting blood in your mouth in the 14th round of a Savage fight.

Do you think he's gonna stop and call the ****ing inspector and say "hey guys stop the fight the water my trainer just gave me tasted funny" hell no! He's gonna forget about it 2 seconds later and get up and fight.

Obviously later he probably did think about it given the controversy
