interesting how the movie goes and how it shows an unbeatable russian boxer who was the world amauter champ turn pro and start killing people.... fast foward some 20 or so years later, when the eastern block turned pro and what do u see almost all the top heavyweights are russian speaking and come from that soviet school of boxing. here are some of the russian speaking fighters Wladimir Klitschko Ruslan Chagaev Nikolai Valuev Alexander Povetkin Sultan Ibragimov Alexander Dimitrenko Oleg Maskaev Vladimir Virchis the list goes on and on here is a funny video http://youtube.com/watch?v=ip5JtTd-WIw
Actually, Vlad has much better skills, he has earned his titles, the others? Well, they are also more skilled than the Ivan Drago character. Valouev is so much better than everyone thinks. Chagaev? Good skills also, then there is Dimitrenko, Bidenko, etc.
I blame the ref, he should have stopped that fight way before Creed got hurt and why did Balboa have 2nd thoughts about throwing in the towel, did he think Creed was gonna make a startingly comeback?:twisted:
There has been very good Soviet fighters since Joe Louis was champion that never had a chance to fight as professionals. Eastern Euoprean boxing is in it's infancy. There really isn't many promoters, and they have to go to Germany or America to get training for professional fights. There isn't many experianced Eastern European Professional trainers or promotions.
'He's worried! You cut him! You hurt him! You see? You see? He's not a machine, he's a man!' 'To beat me, he will have to kill me. ' 'No pain! No pain! No pain!' Classic stuff
