Duran was voted the greatest in-fighter of the last 30 years a couple of years back by Bert Sugar and other respected boxing writers, who was a better toe to toe fighter between Roberto and Chavez and was there anyone better than either/both of these greats?

Dvander Holyfield ist Up there p4p because of his timing and counterpunching in the pocket. He got Foreman, Qawi(rematch KO punch) and Tyson on ***** street with the same counter right hand. Douglas KO was a timed punch also. Dokes got stopped by a punch in an exchange also, Mercer dropped up close.
Not to mention he beat Tyson in a fight that was 70% trading interrupted by wrestling and short periods of boxing.
And managed to hold his own against, hurt more than once and drop heavily a man 30lbs naturally bigger than him in Bowe.

Then there's Tyson for speed and power at close range.

    Marciano for being Marciano.

George Foreman freakish strength and power

SRR was dangerous at any range, triple left hooks with accuracy and power the likes of which wouldnt be seen again until 40+ years later with RJJ, but SRR was much more agressive.

Marquez got up Everytime he got dropped and had power with creative accurate combinations.

Morales and Barrera were both fierce warriors who would go after you and punish you if you hit them.

    Pacquiao is Pacquiao.

Marvin Hagler tough as Nails and can fight out of both stances

Wilfredo Gomez was a bantamweight with a big mans punch

Bob Foster left more than a few contenders on the floor out cold when they tried to trade with him.

    I honestly can't pick.

I would have to say Duran for going toe to toe and winning against 180lb MW Barkley who was tough and could really punch himself when he himself was an old fat lightweight

No. Hank Armstrong might be the best of the lot.

He is up there, Armstrong put his head on the chest and his perpetual infighting was incredible......Duran was perpetual movement and angles like few other a born fighter...... Chavez on the inside was ruthlessly effective but his outside game is underrated....

The thing with Duran was how much he moved and defended even body blows he actually moved on his toes more than Armstrong . Armstrong's inside strength and constant punching was as honest as a fighter could be in a fight just constant punching.

JCC was a destructive fighter underrated defense, decent power not Rosario or Duran class but not far off...but he really damaged fighters and what was scarry was how he could extend a beating until he was tired and gotten his fill....he could hit but it was the surgical beatings that he could make last 12 rds or end in 1 he seemed to prefer career shortening beatings and it's the damage he could do that was unusually cruel and took skill.

Hopkins was extremely effective on the inside. Zivic was rough and effective and LaMotta no stranger there. Dempsey and Marciano are worth a shout as well at heavyweight.
