Holyfield literally went life and death with a guy on 3 occasions who is widely considered one of if not the laziest champion of all time.

But Mccall and Rahman could destroy easily a world-class Willard sized fighter.
Your Tyson example sucks because Tyson was incredible shot against Lewis .
Honorable mention the fat mediocre Ruiz destroyed a world-class Willard sized fighter also and I hope you don't
believe this Andy R. is better than a prime Tyson.

Who Futch whipped into the finest shape of his life for the first fight and who got into very good shape for the third fight... and who Futch referred to as the most talented specimen he had ever trained.

Remember we are talking head to head here. If you want to make a head to head equivalency between Bowe and Willard, I am all ears.

Was there no 2nd fight? Bowe was overweight and out of shape for that fight much like you claim Willard was for Dempsey. Holyfield wasn’t able to devastatingly beat him. There’s plenty of other fights Bowe was fat for against even bigger guys than Holyfield. So your claim that there was never another fat and disinterested champ is completely baseless. I’ve been able to produce 2 that Holyfield alone fought.

It’s funny, you were completely silent when I brought up Douglas.

It’s like you have no completely idea what the discussion is about and randomly jump in after reading a single response right in the middle.

Mccall and Rahman were taller than Dempsey and regularly weighed 230+ lbs and not far off from Lewis in terms of bulk and mass. Not the same thing. McCall even had a massive 82' reach.

Dempsey was under 200 lbs soaking wet for his entire career last i checked.

Ruiz was shorter than Joshua but he was also heavier and one of the heaviest boxers in history. Ruiz is not mediocre, he has an iron chin, can throw blisteringly fast combinations and can launch jolting hooks and uppercuts at close range like No one else in the division right now.

That's exactly what he does. He just chimes in to boast about all these amazing boxers he's trained (which I have yet to see any evidence of) and talks about how even some of his rookies look better than world champions from 100 years ago. He is incredibly predictable and doesn't say anything interesting or insightful. He goes for shock value knowing certain posters will enjoy his agenda driven posts.

Maybe all of those guys had much better chins than you think.

He would have lasted the championship distance vs Holyfield.

I think you're exaggerating about "lethal injuries". If Dempsey didn't do it, then it can't be done.

I honestly think that Willard would be top 10 or even top 5 today.

For your information, Jack Dempsey has the most 1st round KO's of any HW champion, including Tyson. That has to count for something.

Yes Dempsey did fight weaker opposition, but that can only cover so many sins.

There are fighters with granite chins, in every era weak or strong.

I don't think that there is a particular correlation between the quality of an era, and the durability of the best fighters in it.

You would expect the most durable fighters, to be able to make some sort of stand, even in a weak era.

You would expect fighters with a big size advantage, to be able to offer some sort of effective resistance, even if they got beaten.

When a fighter is stopping men who previously had a reputation for durability, that is something that you should take notice of.
