My point is that neither of these me stopped better fighters than Holyfield, or fought a comparable level of opposition, but that you are happy to accept that they had more power, based upon what they did to their opponents.

Dempsey's opposition might not be as good as Holyfield's, but it is a lot better then Hide's or Haye's, if you subtract the men who beat them.

Dempsey's opposition is good enough to decisively answer any questions about his power.

    OK, that is worth knowing.

I assumed that almost everybody thought that there were cruiserweights who hit harder than Holyfield, but were far less accomplished.

I think Gassiev hits harder than all of them, Kudryashov too.

Guys like Sheppard or Satterfield hit harder than him, but I think Holyfield hits harder than Dempsey.

So a light heavyweight who got knocked out in four by another light heavyweight had a comparable chin to Tyson?

    I think we're done here.

I'm really not sure what he's trying to prove there. There are a ton of CWs I'd consider harder punchers than Dempsey. I'd probably consider Beterbiev a harder puncher than Dempsey if I'm being brutally honest.

What I am trying to demonstrate, is that there are cruiserweights who most people agree hit harder than Holyfield, who did not fight anything like the same level of opposition.

People are not applying the same logic to Dempsey, that they would to a contemporary fighter with the same record.

I don't rate punchers on who they beat necessarily, but it has to factor into the equation at some point. Holyfield fought far larger and more durable opponents on average than Dempsey and proved his power against a number of them. Dempsey fought for the most part scrawny LHWs and sub-200lbers with the odd lumbering oaf thrown in. No one near the level of resilience to Mercer (took full force punches off Morrison, Lennox, Wlad, Cooper), Tyson, Foreman, Bowe. Him knocking out that level of opposition doesn't tell us a whole lot, especially when you factor in the small gloves and no neutral corner rule.

Not sure how that's illogical or unfair to Dempsey TBH.

A cruiserweight could not have stopped Tyson, he took Ruddock`s best shots.

Willard got knocked down by blows that looked more messy than Ruddock`s shots, no way could Willard take Ruddock`s power.

Bowe said Hide was the hardest puncher he ever faced.

If you look at these shots they don`t have the snap that Holy`s shots had, they are not as crisp or as well timed, Willard was wide open taking shot after shot, did Dempsey ever score a one punch KO? Holy knocked Rodriguez out with one shot.

I don't think that you are quite reading the film correctly.

Dempsey hit Willard with a perfectly timed left hook, and I think that Willard was basically out on his feet after that.

Dempsey saw this and rushed in to finish the job.

There was nothing sloppy about anything that Dempsey did.

He was a very aggressive fighter, but his sense of timing was perfect.

Ruddock never knew the day when he could finish people like Dempsey could.
