    At heavyweight I’d say that’s fair, when you watch Sharkey-Maloney he’s basically in his second year yet puts on one of the most impressive defensive performances from that era. By year three he’s battering Jack Dempsey.

    What a shame. Nothing worse IMO than seeing talent go to unnecessary waste. As a big Wilfredo Benitez fan, I know better than most!

    How hard is it to show defensive flair against a stubby, short opponent who knows what mode of attack?

    Not really. Loughran was boxing his ears off before getting careless, while Louis was fighting an ailing man and Tyson a terrified one. Loughran beat him in a later fight too.
