Was Jamie Moore ever world class?

no not even close but his heart on sleeve style won lots of fans and praise and rightly so but world class he wasnt

 

Well the best barometer of that is probably his victory over Sebastian Lujan the same fighter that was competitive with Dzinziruk and had been in with Margarito, beyond that he holds wins over Matthew Macklin, Michele Piccirillo and Michael Jones. Was he ever world class probably not because unfortunately he never got his shot, did he have the talent I think he might well have done.

 

He was European champion so to call him "European level at best" is a bit harsh.

 

Jamie was Euro Champion and that was his footing into the World Championship level, he was worthy of mixing with them...:deal

I would say that on his day he could of mix with the world class guys, not Elite or even the A+ guys but any level of fighter lower he could of won a title against them. You don't have to be greatest fighter to win a Alphabet title in this modern era. He could of hung with the world's best light middle's sadly never got that chance.

 

No but hes a hero and thats all that matters.

 

It's weird. I was starting to think he was when he stopped the Italian fella a couple of years ago, but we've since found out he was struggling at the weight and was desperate for the fight to be over because of that. Then we had the Rhodes fight. It's almost as if the wheels fell off just as it looked as if he was picking him ahead of steam.

Probably too one-dimensional and not enough power to be world class but I still think he was outclassing Rhodes in their fight and Rhodes is being tipped for world level so you never know.

 

He was probably borderline for a short period. He had a very short period a few years before he retired where he was potentially up there depending on who he was matched up against. He did seem to get bigger and bigger though, and it seemed a problem against Rhodes stamina and resistance wise as much as he was very strong early in fights, so against world class fighters that could take his punches better it might have been tough for him to have ever found a way past that.

he was inconsistant, but talented, i reckon he had problems with desire, his head diden't look to be in it in certain fights, though when he was putting it alltogether, in my opinion he was world class.

 

He was certainly near on occasion. As others have said, he waited too long at a level below. By the time he got near the best he was winding down.

His punch resistance was slowly going and the Rhodes fight just tipped him over. I think the same may have happened at the top level, but we'll never know. Even against fringe world-class guys like Angulo, he probably didn't have the firepower to stay in it.

I like the guy though. Great warrior and almost always made for good fights.
